Hilarious ?

I found these and you can even pick your Supra color on the shirt:

I absolutely love getting that statement at the track ❤ . What a shocker these cars are! Every magazine or YouTuber should spend an entire day at a HPDE driving event. I think their articles and impression would be quite different.

I have always liked going against conventional and in the black and red run groups where the majority are Porsche, track prepped vettes, BMW. I like being the odd ball.

One morning at like 5am I was getting gas at BP and the old lady that works there was sweeping up outside and she asked me “what the hell kinda car is that?”

I told her.

Her reply “it’s nice”

Hilarious

LOL I've got a GOOD one...

I went to look at a g87 m2 yesterday and the sales women from my local BMW dealer asked what car I was currently driving our conversation following was

me-"oh a Toyota supra!"

sales-"you should trade that in I think you would like a BMW better"

me-"I already have one?"

sales-"no you don't you said it was a Toyota"

me-" *visible confusion* its made by bmw..."

sales- "oh... well, its not like this... *points to the touchscreen* this is pure M performance"

me- "okay have a nice day thanks anyway"??
Only thing that would have made this funnier, is if you were looking at a Z4...lol

I had a funny encounter a couple days ago in my townhouse community. There are no garages (horrifying, I know), just a parking lot. I had just washed it and was drying the last few spots when this old lady is struggling to park her SUV next to me. She finally gives up and gets out while her car is all over the line (the one further from my car thankfully). She says "that is the nicest car in our whole neighborhood" and I thank her for the compliment. She then says, "did you see what I did to mine?" Then she goes around and shows me how the whole rear right quarter panel is all scraped up. She says, "they wanted $2,000 to fix it. Do you think I could just paint it myself?" I tried to discourage her, but she seemed pretty committed to trying. Anyway, I waited for her to go inside and then moved my car as far away as possible.

A couple of weeks back, FedEx delivered a package. The Supra was in the driveway and I was outside with my son. He walked up the driveway saw me, handed me the package, and with a smirk on his face said, "Nice BMW". I smiled and said "Thanks man".

I for one am not bothered by the BMW rhetoric as I've owned several BMWs and in fact, was one of the reasons I bought my Supra.

On a positive note, a couple of days ago at my local farmers market, a little girl (probably 8 yrs old) yelled out "AWESOME CAR"! Both my wife and I couldn't help but smile and laugh at that.

This car is engaging for so many people from all walks of life. Good or bad, it's a blessing to own one of these cars.

I just had a fun experience at the car wash. It's one of those big touchless washes where they have a full staff to hand dry and finish your car, with a single wash line that splits into three finishing lanes. There was another Supra there just behind me (a phantom gray one)... I and the other owner were talking about our cars in the waiting area watching them go through the wash line when we started to take bets as to who's would finish first (as they entered side by side finishing lanes at almost the same time and were getting the same cleaning service done). It was some epic turtle racing.

That is when a guy came up behind us and said "Wow you don't see many of those anymore and here are two of them, I wonder why they stopped making them?"

(And Jonathan if you are here on the site let me know it was fun talking with you)

Late at night after hanging out at a friends house I was on my way home and pulled into a McD's drive through because it had been a while since the wife and I ate.

A truck pulls in behind me and orders right after I do. I'm paying at the window and he is waiting for me to move up...

Truck: IS THAT A SUPRA?! (Yelling this hanging out of his driver window)

ME: YEP

Truck: SHEEEEEESSH

Wife and I: SHEEEEEEESSH

Back and forth randomly squawking SHEEEESH back and forth at one another.

Took my food at the window and the employee gets it on it. Wave me hand out the window to say bye to the truck and head out. Full meme interaction.

I live in an area where 90% of the people are old (60 above), and it's always funny seeing their reactions. They've never seen the car in their life and always say stuff like:

"What the hell kind of car is that?"
"That's not a Toyota"
"A Sup- what?"
"Does it have a V8"
*Something related to Corvettes*
"Wow, I've never seen something like it"
Etc

I had a DMV employee guy (asian dude) taking jabs at me while he was inspecting my car in order to register it. "I can't believe the fake vents. They aren't even functional. What was Toyota thinking partnering up with BMW". He quickly stopped when he noticed he was crossing the line. Totally uncalled for. This is the reason I don't go to cars and coffee or car meets. My car is a build for myself so I can enjoy myself. Too much ignorance. I had a millennial kid stop me outside a grocery store as he walked to his 4runner asking me about my cu later gray color and being a sick car. Also caught a kid taking pictures as it was parked outside my barber's shop. All kinds of stories
Yea same. It's hard going to cars and coffee, everyone has an opinion. An opinion is like an asshole, everyone has one. And better hope some beat ass MKIV isn't there, it'll be a shitshow. Went to one meet and they parked opposite side of me and talked shut and judged the whole time. Thing is their cars were beat and were stock. Bumpers mismatched etc.

Also, went to pickup a Target order the other day. The kid comes out and says "is that a supra." I told him straight faced, "that is so played out and prob 3 years old, try harder." He apologized and got embarrassed and said, "sorry I just had to." I'm like "whatever makes you happy bro." Lolll

Damn, I go to tons of C&Cs and I've never gotten any bad comments. I've been asked what I think about the BMW/Toyota partnership, and stuff like that, but never any bad comments. I will say that the C&Cs here are smaller tho

It's like, pay $80,000+ for a likely highly used MKIV and be seen as a hero or buy a brand new MKV and build it up and be seen as an imposter. Dinner last night at a high end italian joint in Irvine, California. Parked valet and the valet kids were more amazed with my 6MT than the cocky Lambo guy ahead of me pulling out. The valet kid as he pulled up my car was like, "Wtf bro. And it's a manual?! What the hell is going on. Crazy". I immediately shut down or stop talking to someone if they have the slightly tone of being condescending or trying to be "funny" with their jabs. Drive what you want and be happy... uless you're driving a Hellcat or Mustang and revving or trying to race the world. Those people know where they belong.

My favorite comment about the car was from my dad when I told him I picked up a Supra. "I'm surprised you went Toyota, always thought you'd end up with a BMW" ?

Living out in a somewhat rural area resulted in the new car bringing a lot of attention at work. Its unusual to see them around here. Probably had 2 dozen people come by my desk to compliment it, ask to sit in it, etc. All positive conversations though!

The car is also a biker magnet. Guaranteed, I see a dude on a sport bike out and about, I always get a positive comment or thumbs up. lol..

I actually have yet to get any negative comment about it besides a close friend saying the front end is odd. People love the thing! It's really great to see others appreciate my car the same way I do.
