So, I came upon this thread while doing some research. Why not just *drill* a simple hole into each section? Save $200? Visually it'd look the same from 6-10 feet and it would actually be stronger.

So, I came upon this thread while doing some research. Why not just *drill* a simple hole into each section? Save $200? Visually it'd look the same from 6-10 feet and it would actually be stronger.
I mean no ones stopping you from drilling holes in all the fake vents if you want.

I'm not sure about stronger though. The material of the stock fake vents that came off my car feel like a really cheap plastic. They were super easy to bend and deform (I actually broke the top off one while pulling them off the bumper), these feel much more solid and strong to me and iirc are thicker than the oem pieces as well.

What ‘function’ does everyone think these vents are going to perform? There’s nothing behind any of the fake vents, minor exception is the hood.
Yea I hear ya. People get all puritanical about the functionality of styling items. Owners spend money on adding badges, changing badges, removing stripes or adding them and then worry about the fact the vents don't function. People are endlessly fascinating, I love it. BTW the new vents look a bit tacky and lack an integrated look with the mounting flange not painted black to match the vent colour.
