The Titan with the valve closed cuts a lot of drone, but it's still loud in the audible frequencies.

Interested in resonator placement on the Titan as well. it could possibly squeeze in right where the midpipe and axleback meet, but then you lose a connection point.
Guess I gotta do it then, for science!

Installed new rims and tires

Apex SM-10RS in Motorsport Gold
Square 18x10 ET30
275/40/18 ExtremeContact Sport 02 filled to 33psi

Stock suspension, no spacers.

Just clears by a few mm. No rubbing issues that I felt on the 30 mile drive home. Thank Satan because spacers are the worst. I've ran spacers in multiple cars and still run them in my championship winning rally cross Mustang, and I still hate them ?

Next up... exhaust. I'm thinking Titan Motorsports titanium cat back with a 3rd party titanium resonator welded inline. Good idea? Bad idea? I'm fixated on having a valved exhaust because sometimes I want peace. I'm also fixated on titanium because it's so dang light and this car is just so dang heavy.

I know it's not titanium but the HKS Hi Power has been treating me very well, highly recommend. I wouldn't give up the valve, and didn't like any of the other valved options. Magnaflow was my runner-up but the lack of replacement carbon tips (MF doesn't sell them as parts at ALL) made the choice easy all things considered.

Mind sharing alignment specs for this fitment?

I shall investigate the HKS. Thanks for the tip.

Here is my alignment - just OEM specs :)

Been a while since I've done anything to my car - mainly because I'm saving up to buy another house... BUUUUT I couldn't resist the black Friday deals and got myself a AA catted downpipe which fits my mantra of OEM+ quite nicely.

Butt dyno says I gained 20hp and increased tip-on throttle torque.

I did some DIY draggy tests where I record 3rd gear pulls with identical vehicle conditions other than swapped parts and gave the data to AIs.
  • Grok estimates I gained 20hp
  • Gemini estimates I gained 25hp
  • ChatGPT estimates I gained 30hp
Grok was the most scientific in it's analysis so I'll go with 20hp as that is what my butt dyno thought as well. But yeah I saw multiple people say they didn't feel the DP gave them any gains but I can absolutely assure you my car accelerates faster even with my bone stock tune. Maybe my MST 6" intake is helping it, ionno.

As for noise, it's is louder yes, for instance I can hear the car accelerate over music more than I could before, but it's not like OH MY GOD EARGASM... it's just mildly louder, that's about it. Although I did notice it seems to "pop and bang" a little more than before? Tough to say for sure.

Oh and it weighs 3lbs less than the stock downpipe for those who care yes I weighed them.

Here's the 3rd gear acceleration video of the Active Autowerke catted downpipe

which AA Catted DP did you get? GESI or the other one? Any CELs yet?

I got the "other one" which is AA's own catalytic converter unit from my understanding. It was $850.25 shipped to my door. I've put about 500 miles on it and no CEL so far. It DOES definitely smell like when I'm warming it up or sitting at a crowded intersection but not a whole lot. Very happy with the purchase!

FINALLY got the parts installed that required dropping the subframe! It took about a month of chipping away at it for just a few hours a week. I had to get back surgery a few years ago so I take my time with car projects these days.

Installed:
  • Whiteline Rear Sway bar
    • Set to the softest configuration
  • Verkline Rear Upper Lateral Link
    • Set to OEM length
  • Phase2Motortrend subframe inserts
  • Diff fluid swap
Difficulty:
  • Believe it or not other than the time commitment it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I was able to do everything solo with a floor jack and 4 jack stands.
  • What made it even easier was I had Claude.AI create an entire installation doc with pictures and check boxes documenting everything I need from tools to torque specs with step by step instructions. It made it super simple tbh and even though there were 4+ days in-between working sessions I never lost track because of the guide Claude built.
So, why did I do these mods:
  • I like to drift around on my commute, and in the rain I'd get a ton of wheel hop (dry not so much thanks to the supporting mods I've already done). I reached out to Verkline and they suggested the rear upper lateral links. Since I had to drop the subframe I figured I'd do a rear sway bar and subframe inserts to get two birds stoned at once.
Results - inconclusive
  • I was fortunate enough to have finished on a day it was cold and rainy, perfect for testing out a few clutch kicks. Sadly I still get a ton of wheel hop - but mind you the car still needs to be aligned.
  • One thing that immediately improved was the notorious "clunk" when stabbing the throttle in sport mode that the manual versions have. It has completely gone away. Unsure if it's the links or the subframe inserts helping this but I am super happy about that.
    • Update - it still clunks in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear. Does not clunk in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Definitely an improvement but not as much as I originally thought.
What's next?
  • Alignment, and not a firestone alignment, I will take it to a shop that can get real intimate with the now 3 sets of Verkline links I have in the rear. Fingers crossed they dial out the wheel hop. I just want to clutch kick some on ramps damnit.
  • IF all else fails, coilovers. I have a hunch this will be the ultimate answer. I've been avoiding these because I am quite fond with how it rides on my daily commute and I don't like the idea of going lower than OEM ride height :/
OEM+ Certified: YES - and absolutely zero NVH increase that I can tell in the 10 miles I drove it. Will update if this changes.

Got the car back from alignment at HD Motorsports here in Austin. Awesome experience with a super friendly service manager. It handles great and the rear stays planted way better now. I can literally floor it exiting an apex where I used to power-over on marginal throttle, and it just grips—zero drift. No wheel hop on clutch kicks yet either, but the ultimate test will be if we get some rain this weekend.

Kind of surprised with those front camber numbers for how I know you like to drive the car.
Don't have any suspension bits on the front yet :(
