Hey guys, I just got my supra a few days ago and I tried hooking up my escort redline 360cc to the same area. I used these from amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DR2Q9CBH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I hooked it up to the red connector as seen below, black to - and red to +
So black to far left on the red connector and red to the far right on the red connector.

I don't know what the middle wire is for tbh.

I noticed that the radar doesnt turn off when I turn the car off and leave my car... (so I have been plugging it and unplugging it when I get in and out of my car). There was one time I forgot to unplug after a work day and I relized the screen was black but the redline was really hot (dont have tints yet) but when I clicked on a button the device woke up (didnt initialize which meant it was on sleep mode?? - would that be a problem for the battery or the radar?)

Then this morning got these error messages when I came to a stop at a red light...

After a bit the car warnings went away and the system check was ok.

Please let me know how to properly hook up the radar, and are the warnings tied together?

I haven't done the Supra in a while but I did my X5 last year and I think it was the exact same. Don't plug into the red connector. You plug into the black connector. I know I definitely didn't use the red connector in the Supra.

The red wire goes to the red/green wire.
Black wire goes to brown/black wire.

Yeah so the mirror power source...
I got the adapter harness from Amazon last year for my dashcam. No splicing, no dicing just plug and play. From what I gather, THAT source is constant power, whether the car is on or off. I *think* it's essentially the same power source as the alarm, so it's ALWAYS on.

This is great for dashcams if people want 24x7 surveillance of their car.

But for any other accessory, like a radar detector, if you tap into this, you will need to manually turn it off.

If you don't turn it off, it WILL drain your battery.
You'll at first get battery system warnings (after a day or two of constant voltage draw), then you WILL get all sorts of off warnings because the battery is dying.

So short term and easy fix. Turn off or unplug your detector when not using it. (I turn off my dashcam when I get home everyday). Oh and charge your battery.

And yes, some people will reply to this thread with the correct wiring tap to get accessory power. That will remain on after you exit the car/lock it but WILL turn off power about 7-10 minutes afterward.

Or, you could do what I did--buy a harness from Amazon for less than $20, then make an appointment with the nearest Best Buy, and for $80, they'll hook it up correctly in 20 minutes or less. And like all the other electrical stuff in the Supra, it takes about 7 minutes to power off.
