Hi Guys,

I need some help as I fear I may have done some damage to my Supra.

UK September 2019 3.0 Pro

Yesterday I fitted a whifbitz catless downpipe and downloaded the Stage 2 bootmod3 map.

To set the scene, I've been a right idiot from the start. Firstly I drove the car briefly with the downpipe on but without the flash, because i'm too impatient and wanted to hear it. When doing this it went into what I assume was limp mode, with reduced power. It also flashed up drivetrain fault. I took it back to work quickly where I hooked it up to bootmod3.

I think this could have been the second bad move, I tried to flash the stage 2 tune, but didn't clear the fault codes first.

The flash failed and continued to do so after a few more tries.

I then remembered that bootmod3 could do diagnostics and figured I could probably clear the faults, and then try again.

So I went to DME ECU Functions and clicked DME reset. This reset the time and various other things and that's when I really started to panic.

All of this was done with too much haste and not enough knowledge I'm ashamed to admit, and now the car will not start.

When I press the start stop button, the dash lights up as you'd usually expect momentarily, but then slowly reduces down to minimum display, showing just milage etc and then just shows drivetrain fault on the dash.

I have tried a simple scanner on it which i've used before to clear the code from removing the particulate filter and it worked fine, now not even this will talk to the car.

I'm fearing the worst here, and not sure where to turn.

Can anyone help?

Just a downpipe should not kick into limp. It will throw lights on the dash.

Is something else not connected or broken on install?

At this point I would think you have to get to dealer to reset the ecu. I know Failed program tunes can lock up the ecu

Does Bootmod store the original settings?

Do a hard reset with a battery unplug for a hour or two?

Assuming this is an option. But you know what they say about assuming.

I wouldn't do this yet but its an option and wait for more experienced people to give their input.

Hope you can get it fixed.

Sadly I've already tried that to no avail. Actually left the battery disconnected all night.

The downpipe was not the problem. You can drive around without a downpipe for 100k miles and no tune and not cause any damage. In fact, most people do this (or with a JB4).

I'm unsure what 'Reset ECU' actually does- that might have caused some trouble. I'd put the factory downpipe back on it, and tow it to the dealer.

You could also try to get a hold of BM3 support and see if they have any suggestions, but it sounds like this is a problem unrelated to what you've done.

Did you bench unlock your DME before trying to upload BM3 firmware?
I've heard that trying to flash a locked DME can cause some issues.

Did you remove the opf/gfp sensor tube when fitting the downpipe? Cause that will result in limp mode.

With all this flashing and what not; have you hooked your battery up to a charger. The charge might be low and freaking all the computers out?
