But it looked so good in orange behind me on the 101 last weekend I don’t think I much cared about reliability lol ?
I was considering a second gen NSX, along with a Lotus Emira before I bought my Supra. According to what I've seen in an NSX forum, they ARE among the most reliable within the exotic car realm.
In the end, I determined that the Supra, being both rare and at a much lower cost (and hatch with pass-through as a bonus) was a better buy.
I did rent a 2022 C8 via Turo, but as a former owner of a 2001 C5 for 13 years, there is no way I would buy another GM vehicle.

The square steering wheel alone would make it hard for me to take it seriously. Just a dumb thing I don’t like. I think they (the Vettes) look cool as shit but there is soooooooooooooo many of them it really dilutes the experience as well.

In comparison of C8s to our Supras:

Since the 2020 model year, GM has produced an average of 35,564 Corvettes per year, whereas Supras during the same amount of years averaged 4587 cars per year.

This. Chevy makes more C8s in one year than in all the years the A90 has been brought into the United States over 6 years. Makes the Supra feel way more rare and special to me.

Supra?
Just hit 10k miles on the Supra a couple of days ago, and I’m planning on doing a brake fluid flush to racing brake fluid to track prep her for Sonoma. ?

The next step is purchasing a good race helmet. Tires are good for a couple of sessions and I’ll swap them to a new set regardless.

Brakes might be next depending upon setup/feel. I have a lot more planned immediately for the car handling and braking wise rather than sheer power upgrades.

Regardless, I’m smitten and so excited to begin tracking her for real. ?

I could never have afforded to do this in the C8 either. The track prep for the car is a pain in the ass, and you gotta do a trans fluid flush after a heavy track day. Hella expensive.

If there’s any Bay Area locals, there’s a GR Meetup at One Toyota in Oakland this Sunday 4/20 from 8-12. Hope to see some of you there if you can make it.

Welcome, Jason. While have no plans to track my car, there are plenty of owners here who do. Enjoy!

Spot on and Beautiful car ?. That’s the way to do it. Fluid, pads, tires, all you need. Eventually you’ll wear the outside of the tires out quicker. Then you’ll get a more aggressive alignment. Until then, enjoy the snot out of her!

Naw man it’s all good! Trust me I tried to love the C8. But I’ll be real, after the first car? Driving the second gave me so much anxiety cause it was always always in the back of my mind it was gonna happen again. And it did.

These stupid cars are like 90-170k depending on if it’s a Z51, a Z06, or an E-Ray. I hate to say this but at the end of the day it’s a GM product. And their quality has just taken a nose dive. I’ve heard so many horror stories it’s not even close.

I’ll put this in for food for thought. I purchased the first C8 in October 2024 and put 44k down. It’s now April 2025 and I STILL have not gotten all my money back from this nightmare.

You do not want to have to deal with GM and a lemon law attorney. My Supra gives me so much peace of mind I don’t even bat an eye thinking about her reliability at all.

Do you want to know why your Z06 dropped value so fast? All C8’s have (except the ZR1) and it’s due to the stupid ass transmission problems for all their years. They even fired Tage over it and let him go.

C8 values are dropping like a stone cause word is already on the street: the C8 is unreliable and a replacement DCT is gonna cost you 20 grand minimum.

Yet I bet if you walk into Fremont or Dublin chevy? You’ll see markups on all of them still.
Yes i have to chime in.
I felt the same had C7 Z07 with 3000 miles.
I searched high and far Thinking i have my dream machine.
Then it started cluch fell to floor dealer said sonner or later it could cost 4.500 to fix
having to remove drive shaft to repair
The light on dash for emmisions kept comming back It needed a new set of tires due to age and warrenty for factory emmisons is running out soon.
With the fear of cracked rims
I sold it back to Carvana
I have a new 2023 Supra now with warrenty and piece of mine I totalty understand what you are talking about
