did they mention “where” they found it?
Umm, in the OBD port.

Which makes me question, why doesn’t the alarm go off for something being left in the OBD port with these fuckers like it does other things?

It was probably plugged into the OEM OBD2 Port, so when you connect a scan tool it goes through the tracker to the OEM OBD2. Something you wouldn't find unless you removed the panel and saw the plug was extra thick.

It would act kinda like a skimmer on a card pin pad at the gas station.

A few GR Corollas experienced the same thing and found OBD2 Tracking devices connected to their OBD2.

He's referring to the fact that the factory alarm SHOULD go off if there is a current draw from the OBD harness when the car is locked. this is a known issue with some obd scanners like obdlink and mhd universal, intermittently.

I have a Scanguage OBD reader connected at all times, and it never sets off the alarm. I did read in the owner's manual that this could happen.
Some auto Insurance companies offer a discount if you allow them to install a speed sensor of some sort, but I would never go for it.

Oooof. I genuinely think I may have one of these in my Supra right now. Other day I was going to put in my bimmercode module and noticed that something was connected. Figured it was the alarm system, was even going to post here asking if it was fine to unplug while I mess around with bimmercode. Gonna check today after work.

also got mine delivered to me from Houston, TX

Its a dealer add on product, like Lowjack. Some dealers install them in all the cars and try to sell you the product. Regardless if you buy it or not, sometimes the sales person does not remove it. They do drain the battery.

Mine was in the trunk, connected directly to the battery.

While there isn’t a lot of upside to California regarding cars (among other things), they do definitely protect against this shit. It is 100% illegal to install any tracking system in a car in California without the consent of the registered owner (law enforcement with warrant aside). If done by a business, like a car dealership for instance, they can (and often do) lose their business license. Years ago, I found one in a used truck I bought. I yanked that fucker out and actually got a call from a very pissed sales guy accusing me of “stealing their property”. I politely referred them to the penal code and invited them to file a police report. Never heard another word.

Was is clearly visible from just looking at the OBD port or did they have to rip the panel off?

I just got my 2025 in Texas and want to check.

Heres pictures of mine I found today, directly plugged into the OBD Port. It’s the same exact cable from the video that was posted earlier. I’m definitely going to have to remove the panel to get it off. I’m so fucking annoyed.

I looked at my OBD port today and noticed there was already something plugged into it! I took off the plastic panel above the pedals and was able to remove what I think is a cable for a GPS tracker:
OBD Tracker 1.webp

...but as you can see, I wasn't able to reach far enough up into the dash to remove the plastic box that houses the tracker, as seen in this picture (highlighted in red):
OBD Tracker 2.jpg

I thought my best option was to remove the dashboard side panel (circled in red) or unscrew the airbag in the driver's footwell. I may just leave the tracker box up in the dash unless it starts rattling. Does anyone have other suggestions on the best way to be able to reach up into the dash?
