I have a 2020 Supra that I recently installed an intake manifold on. I’m on stock turbo and running an Ecutek E50 tune. As part of the kit, I also installed a new PI fuel rail and injectors, but I have the Reflex disconnected until I can get a new tune to support it. All fuels lines are in place and hooked up. My goal was to install everything and be ready to go for a big turbo install. I wanted to make sure everything I installed worked correctly before installing the turbo.

After finding several boost leaks, I fixed everything and thought I had the car running decent, but noticed it breaks up under boost and feels like I lose all power. I thought this was initially caused by my boost leaks but now can’t see any leaks under smoke test but still have this issue.

I’m assuming the car just doesn’t like the new intake manifold without being tuned for it. Should this be expected or do you guys think I have another issue I need to fix?

The only other thing I can think of is that it’s fuel related due to having the PI system installed but not operational. I would hate to get the new turbo on just to find that I still have this lingering issue.

Any thoughts on this?

The more you do going forward, the harder it’ll be to pinpoint. Definitely get your tuner involved if the issue is ongoing before going any further.

I'm leaning more towards fueling as well.

Car is under the knife at the moment but when I get it back going, I'll get some good logs. I tried previously but couldn't replicate every time and really didn't want to keep beating on it with the issue.

Mainly wanted to confirm a tune wasn't needed just for the manifold install, to weed that out as a possible option.

Thanks guys.

Did you find out the issue ? I’m planning to do the same thing as you while waiting for my reflex harness

Double check seating and connection on boost sensor (if it was disconnected).

I ended up swapping turbos and getting a full retune for my setup, which fully addressed my issues.

Another forum member (uwatm8) messaged me and had the same issue after only swapping the manifold. A retune fixed his as well.

I’m not sure what caused it but it felt like the car was either over boosting or needed more fuel. Car ran fine until you went WOT.

I would expect to have some issues but a touch up tune should easily fix it.
