Am I the crazy one? I have a 2023 3.0t base model. Asked for the filter kit and oil. They came back with 6 L. I asked if they’re sure it isn’t 7? They insisted. I asked them to check again. They took my VIN and confirmed. 2023 ‘only needs 6L’. Doesn’t it need almost 7 qts or 6.5 liters?
Did something change? To be fair, my owners manual only talks about types of oil it never showed capacity. Oil sticker under the hood says type, not volume.
How much do I need!? This is what they insisted on selling me:

You're right, they're wrong.
Ugh. Thank you. Anywhere it’s documented? Weird it isn’t in the owners manual.

so happy I didn’t bring it for them to change.

Something to think about if nothing else, not every single drip of oil comes out when you do a change. For that reason I only put in 6.5 qt and then check it after a few drives. You can always put more in if needed, not so easy to take some back out. I would just add all of what you got then check if you need more.

damn. I guess many of us had the service manual from the get-go and knew the capacity. I guess I never looked into the owners manual for that info. Looking at 2020 thru 2023, yes it's not there.. ?

I put 6 Liters of oil when changing my oil works fine. Just check your oil measurements if you need to add or not. The most important thing is changing your oil.

Agreed. I too only did 6L+ earlier this summer (and previous changes) and ran oil level check after a nice warm up drive. Display showed full.

I've have the same issue on my other cars. If my car calls out 4.5 qt, I only put in 4 qt, then add later if needed. Too many times (early on when I was younger and even dumber) I did an oil change as per spec and ended up needing to extract some out of the dip stick tube... Supra, no dipstick tube, so best I don't mess it up from the start.

That said, I would buy 7 bottles and keep one as spare because the spec does call out 6.5L.
