Configurator for the 4 pot is now live… and it comes in at a whopping $99,900.

I was somewhat interested in the 4 pot (kind of want to bring home a 4 cylinder mid engine car next) but not at that price. The supercharged V6 is only $6k more - not sure who would willingly buy the I4.
lighter and very tuneable would be the main reasons. Pretty sure it’s Auto only though.

I don’t think I’m getting or intending those vibes. My qualm is the engine performance - who cares who makes what. Hell I owned a Crossfire SRT6 once - Chrysler/amg/MB whatever lol.
@Supra_UK_
same. the McLaren F1 has a BMW engine and the Zonda has a Merc engine. i've long supported collaborations lol

Accolades have already been pouring in praising its driving characteristics. However, long-term ownership, maintenance and serviceability remains to be seen.

Considering the $100K price tag though, I'd be hard pressed not to consider the Cayman GTS 4.0 as a mid-engined alternative.

Speaking of mid-engine... come on, Toyota, bring back the MR2 already!

First Edition is the loaded model that you seem to have found. Thats the only order available. Base Editions are not being produced yet and will be a bit less expensive. They say here in Germany. I hope to order the 4cyl and replace the 22 M240i with that. We shall see lol.

Back when the Emira first debut, Lotus said the inline 4 was going cost just under £60k but now it cost almost £82k lol, their new owner and management from Geely sure is scummy.

One thing I find to be a bit suspicious about the Emira is notice how that no automotive outlets have done any proper instrumented testing and setting lap times with the V6 Emira, whereas most cars let alone sports cars get tested as soon as they hit the market, plus some of the non-overhyped reviews from the UK seem to all say the Emira gets a bit too soft and understeery when pushed the limit, and its engines aren't up to the standards of its similarly price competitors, doesn't sound like good signs to me.

Also the sales of the Emira have been terrible, their original sales target was 4800 units per year, they sold only 576 units in 2022, I guess it isn't just some of us here that find the Emira to be overpriced.

The high price for the i4 (US) I suppose was inevitable, but disappointing.

Lotus Has Reportedly Already Taken 17,000 Orders This Year
The brand shipped and sold just 576 cars last year, so that number represents a major turnaround.

Pfft, they can say whatever they want lol, can't trust the overly positive signs by anything that's owned by Chinese companies, they are the best at inflating their sales numbers to make themselves look better than they actually are, also quite often used to fool investors to continue funding their crumbling companies. Plus if it really is true, the 17000 orders includes the orders for the Eletre (a.k.a. yet another stupid EV crossover thingy), not just the Emira.

If they truly are doing so well, then they wouldn't feel the need to fire up to 200 workers.

Back in 2021, they said they are going to create 250 new jobs, look how well that went lmao.

Indeed. If a car has a turbo option, I'm gonna take the turbo option every time. It's very easy to slap in a larger turbo and tune for it. Finding superchargers that fit XYZ motor is a lot more difficult, and superchargers suck for boost anyways.

People are cancelling Emiras. You can go to any fealr in the UK and grab a brand new car without a wait.

This car is not that good and with the price tag, it has a lot of competition that is simply better. V6 emira is still pretty much the same 15-years old Toyota engine. I4 doesn't get good reviews and sorry but £80k for an i4 is ridiculous.

Ps. I'm coming from the lotus world for the last 14 years. I had 5 lotuses so far. And I think GR Supra is a better car in every possible way than Emira.

Agree'd overall. The Emira launch is a disaster and the 4cy reviews are out and they are glossing over it being less than ideal. AMG would not let Lotus install or update much of the software for the engine management piece. My guess- because the IP involved and Chinese 'ownership' lol. ANY company that is 'Chinese' owned reports to the State and does nothing but steal as much data/tech as it can.

They still have new Emira's being launched that are failing PDI and delivery to new owners. Sure the car drives well when its running but Brit owners have cancelled many reservations and returned cars as new as 1 day old that cant be fixed or fail to run. It has gotten better but owning a year 1 Emira is probably not a good idea and many new/recently traded models are sitting for sale used and discounted per the Emira forum.

My guess, too fast to ramp up production, failed training for employee's who have never worked on a production line to build an EXOTIC car. Bad cheap chinese parts being used etc etc. Im sure there are more reasons. Bad customer service for sure from what I read from Lotus Corporate lol.

After going through the Emira forums, just to name some of the problems that it has (of course it's not every single Emira that has these problems):

- power steering pump failure, apparently a problem inherited from the Evora

- A/C not working properly, some due problems with the software for the HVAC, while others are due to A/C compressor failure

- fuel gauge not reading properly

- grounding cable coming loose because it wasn't tightened properly at the factory

- engine running rough and sometimes stalling when cold

- TPMS warning light not going away after starting the engine even though the tire pressures are correct

- rear subframe on one of the members' V6 Emira already have surface rust (the galvanising and welding also looks terrible) https://www.emiraforum.com/threads/anyone-seeing-rust-on-v6-rear-subframe.3485/post-100889

- all sorts of ECU, wiring and engine sensors related problems (fault codes, fault codes everywhere)

For anyone who has never owned a car with fiberglass body panels, you better not use a power washer with a narrow angle nozzle, unless you want to strip away the paint, in which case feel free to do so. Another thing that hardly anyone mentions is fiberglass body panels crack and splinter when damaged, and there are no proper ways to fix them other than to replace them with brand new ones. Based on the experience from past fiberglass body Lotus models, these panels are really fragile and good luck not waiting over 5 decades to get brand new replacement panels from Lotus.

Well I feel extremely sad to see the Emira failing like this. This means the company will focus on electric SUVs and other junk.
On the other side I agree that the pricing is very wrong, and the emira competition is caymans, supras, TTRS and at least in Europe the Alpine S which is placed 30k€ below.
