I will say driving on the ring, you have to be really pushing it to make a mistake there, especially if you've been driving the ring for a while. I drove there last year, and if you have any common sense behind the wheel, you are not going to run into many problems, unless it's car related and not your fault.

So you're saying the equipment failed?
I personally think that they crashed it partly on purpose. They pushed it so hard, that the fronts slipped, and they crashed. It would also be a chance to test a crash on a track.

He could have got complacent, over pushed, or could totally be car related. There's too many variables to know for sure without them telling us.

*Edited*

Just re-read the article and see that the crash occurred at Döttinger Höhe.

Hard to tell where on the straight they crashed but looks like they crashed it prior to the main track entrance/exit going by the look of the fences.

I've never seen anyone ever crash there. You're more likely to crash in the car park than there.

I can only assume it was a mechanical failure or an environmental issue. Novices don't crash there, let alone professionals.

Also smaller brakes and the different wheels... I suspect this was the 4-Cylinder model in testing.
