I think you're onto something here. My experience though, is stranger still. With rev matching off, the shifts are OK but can randomly become a bit clunky - that first to second shift is really the only one I'm complaining about. If I switch on rev matching, everything works fine for a while but after a half hour or so, the shifting becomes worse than before and very inconsistent. My working theory is that the onboard computer gets clogged up and after a while, just stops applying the logic properly.

My experience has been the same stock, with JB+ and also now MHD Stage 2.

There's also the fact that coming from a Honda box, my tolerance for poor shifting mechanisms seem to be far lower than most.

Another interesting fact is that - along with weird flashing side effects mentioned elsewhere - rev matching seems to get turned on automatically after every flash. #MHDThings.
You have no idea how convoluted the shift logic is on these 😂 dme is rapidly changing torque requests as you engage and disengage clutch based on dozens of variables with ramping and limits. No surprise it feels pretty shit compared to purely mechanical manual boxes. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a glitch or some unique scenario the engineers didnt test well enough. Possibly any modification like a DP (and more obviously a tune) can exacerbate the issue. No OTS maps touch the MT tables at all.

One positive ive learned though testing is that you can change the shifting feel with the map... possibly improve it. Maybe I'll figure it out :)

Even as a mech E myself, the whole DME strategy feels more like an academic exercise than pure functionality lol.

I wish someone would find a way to completely remove rev matching in normal mode. I know it can be turned off in sport but this feature still drives me nuts.

I personally think the rev up on upshift is from not fully releasing the clutch pedal and it thinks we’re downshifting. Super annoying. Happens less for me these days since I got better at fully releasing clutch pedal.

just used to so many old cars that top of pedal adjustment didnt ever matter lol
