Remember, the A80 was in the 90's a $50k sports car....that's $90k today's money, and it's only going to go up as time passes.
Wasn't the $ tag one of the major reasons why the A80 was considered a failure (in the past)? History repeats itself, but for the A100, my hope is not. I would say the main reason I want an A90 is because I can't afford a brand new Porsche Cayman 4.0 or base 911, but I guess I'm just poor and not representative of the Toyota target audience.

Yes, but the demographics was very different in the 90ā€™s. You rarely saw 20yr olds or mid 30yr olds buying them newā€¦.most deep pocket buyers (upper 30ā€™s and older) were looking at European offerings and domestic nameplates. The demographics is very different nowadays, and those with money are very familiar with what Japan has to offer and are more willing to spend more for a Toyota today than 30yrs ago.

So it sounds like A100 Supra will be even a more limited production car than the A90.

At least through the lense of social media, it seems like a lot of 20/30 yr olds are able to reach on a $50/60k car loan for the MKV. If there is more confirmation the A100 is going to be $90k and I canā€™t secure a new A90 in 2024, maybe Iā€™ll try to get a Z šŸ„“

Yes and no, #90sjapaneseeconomicbubble. It was cheaper in Japan, hence why Toyota sold X3 the amount of A80s in its home market.

Idk why people are freaking out about the rumored price increase. For 2024 the 3.0 ranges from $55k-$57k. Factoring in future inflation I dont think $80k in 2027/28 is that much of a leap.

Well, again....if what all the rumors and reputable source info is true that the "GT3/LFR" and "A100 Supra" will share similar underpinnings, then from a financial standpoint the "A100 Supra" cannot be cheap (too far below six figures). Remember, the A80 was in the 90's a $50k sports car....that's $90k today's money, and it's only going to go up as time passes. Now, if it has supercar performance and built like a tank like the A80, I can honestly say it will be worth every penny. Something tells me the "GT3/LFR" will be exclusive to the Lexus, but that would contradict the previous info I have been made aware of. I hate this waiting game.
2-3 more years of waiting...

Toyota has revealed that its next-generation GT3 car based on the GR GT3 Concept is scheduled for a European racing debut in 2026.

If $60k of today's money is equivalent to $80k 2028 money, sure that's not a leap and no need to "freak out" when explained by inflation. But if it's $80k of today's money, than that's 1/3rd of a price increase...PerformanceSound is speculating not much lower than $100k so I guess I'm being dramatic or being too broke minded? Do you think US median household income will get to $90k in 5 years? Would you have bought the current A90 Supra if it was an $70 or 80k MSRP car? (with markup a handful of people do think it is worth $70-80k)

How many fake vents would you find acceptable for a sub $100k sports car?

@A70TTR said around $80k. Maybe the Lexus will be in the six figure? Idk perhaps find a better job? :dunno:

Would I pay that much for the current model? No but if there is a price increase I would expect a better product

yes, and this is not from official sources, but I'd expect no less then ~$80k starting. It was nice that the A90 was made with a partner to drop costs, but that's not going to be the case with this one IMO.

There were also some that were dissatisfied with some product stack issues between Toyota and Lexus but that's a moot point now.

All new 2027 Toyota Supra starting at $89,995. more carbon fiber, +30% increase chassis rigidity vs. outgoing A90, 540 Horsepower V6TT w/ hybrid motor, +400 lbs increase in curb weight, and in case i forgot mention, more carbon fiber!

Count me out on the A100 if they go back to the A80 styling.

In the 90s, A80 is the most aesthetically unappealing out of the five JDM heros- NSX, RX7, Supra, 3000GT and GTR.

The A80 looks bloated and looks ordinary next to the other 4s. I test drove a 280hp JDM version back in 98 and it doesn't feel as sporty as the 245hp MR2 GTS so I ended up buying the MR2 instead. Looks heaps sportier too. My friend had a 3000GT and we raced each other quite often lol
These were made a few years ago, but the two are more or less the same size. When I think of "bloated" my mind goes to GTR. :dunno:

I guess ā€œbloatedā€ is what everyone wantsā€¦lol. Being ā€œbloatedā€ has never been so profitable or sought after. Itā€™s whatā€™s in the inside not on the outside that matters.
