There has to be. The TRD photo alone shows a car outlined with what looks like a different bumper and different wing. At least there has to be more to the TRD lineup.

I still believe that a manual will only be offered with a top tier motor only....and in very limited numbers.

Yep, and let's not forget that we all want to come out alive after an accident in these things. The amount of safety equipment included bumps up the weight quite a bit.

Speaking of weight, would removing the giant subwoofers do anything to the weight distribution?

Continuing off from you and @Guff discussion about the MKIV's horrible crash rating. You did mention how majority of the cars in the 90's aside from a Volvo were bad.

I absolutely agree with you guys and that's part of continuing evolution of the automobile. It adds nostalgic and period correct of that time frame; thin A pillars, low slung dash boards, passenger side air bag was starting to be come standard equipment.

    https://www.iihs.org/iihs/sr/statusreport/article/41/3/1

It is possible to be in 2019 IIHS standards and drop some more weight; sound system, power seats etc.

According to Nobuo Nakamura, Supra's project chief designer, the hood is the largest that Magna Steyr could make. Toyota apparently had to push its partners to make a single-piece, wraparound bonnet of that size. The limiting factor, says Nakamura: the width of the rolls of aluminum raw stock, from which the hood is pressed.

We couldn't confirm if a hotter version of Supra is in the works, but it stands to reason, given Akio's interest in high performance under the Gazoo Racing(Meisters of Nürburging) banner. But aside from turning up the boost for more power, where other improvements could be made is not immediately clear. Weight savings could come with the switch to lighter materials, but with that huge aluminum hood, aluminum door skins, and composite rear decklid, Toyota's performance gurus would have to use massive swaths of carbon fiber to realize significant gains. The separate roof panel that comprises the double bubble roof could be switched from steel to a lighter material, Nakamura says, but it's such a small panel that it wouldn't be huge savings. Perhaps Supra will pull tricks from the LexusF playbook; the just-announced RC F Track Editionreceived lightweight upgrades that include forged racing wheels, aluminum-intensive suspension, and acres of carbon-fiber panels for a claimed savings of nearly 180 pounds over the standard RC F

Porsche as a company is also alive because it only produces sports cars (SUV's are made mostly by VW)....high end sports car that start out more expensive than a fully loaded Lexus car. So, I would expect they not only have a safe sports car, but one that is uber light. I still don't think Porsche is perfect....let's not forget the "charcoaled" human-beings that haven't made it out alive in their cars....quite a few cases I might add.

Doesn't the MKV come with forged wheels?

Speaking of, the Carrera GT's gas tank is literally inside the seat. There is def some head scratchers with German engineering. The air cooled to water cooled transition has been a little rough for Porsche. The 996/997 GT3 and Turbo models spilling coolant because the coolant pipe flange adhesive got too hot and chemically failed, IMS bearing on the 996/997 M96 and M97 engines and even with my 997, the infamous bore scoring for the 3.8L engines. They are not perfect but damn they are a dream to drive.

The GR, RC-F Track Edition and TRD wheels are forged alloy with the exception of the GR wheels not made by BBS.

Those pieces combine to produce an unspecified amount of extra downforce from all their extruding fins. You'll notice the Supra isn't wearing its normal 19-inch forged wheels any more, either. TRD went with a different design for its 19-inch forged aluminum wheel. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it's hard to see this wheel design as much improvement over the stock wheel — and no claims of it being any lighter are made

I can't see M-Motorsport GmBH sharing their engine - they are almost a separate division from BMW

I thought the same thing, however, word on the street is that the Z4M will only come with a manual mated to a S58. Something to consider...

That aligns with everything else with the new M3 and M4 where they said the M cars will have a stick.

Is a new Z4 M confirmed? That's really really good news if it'll get the S58 + manual. Wonder where/how GRMN will come in...if only someone knew ;).
