I am experiencing an oil leak and am unsure of its exact source. My vehicle is a 2020 with a CTS turbocharger, 2-port setup, and has approximately 12,000 miles. I first noticed oil leaking underneath the turbocharger. I removed the turbo to inspect the area and found that the oil return bolt was slightly loose. After tightening it and reinstalling the turbo, I let the car idle without noticing any leaks.

However, after a short drive, the leak persisted. Upon further inspection, I observed oil coming from the valve cover and charge pipe, but the turbo remains dry, leading me to believe the leak is originating from somewhere higher up in the engine.

This issue arose after pushing the car hard under boost. For reference, the car is currently pushing 700hp with a VTT valve cover, CTS turbocharger, port injection, and running on E85. The car still runs fine though so I don't know what's wrong with it.

I would appreciate any guidance or advice on identifying and resolving the source of the leak.

So, BMW valve covers and gaskets can be REALLY finicky. With the OEM stock ones, if the cover doesn't seat straight, it'll leak.

My opinion, if you can see oil leaking from the valve cover seam, maybe get a new valve cover gasket and redo the valve cover. Be sure to torque it using a torque wrench, start from the middle, and do the bolts in a star pattern not one side then another.

Guess I’ll give that a try hopefully that fix the problem
