Hi all, I’m looking for some insight into the rear quarter panel for PDR work. I’m going through a buddy of mine to do some PDR work and this is his first Supra but he has done many other vehicles and I trust he’ll do a good job. He just has questions on approaching the dent and how to best get behind it. I reviewed the forum and found some helpful details on it being double steel walled, that there are some cutouts via the liner etc. For those that have had PDR work in the rear quarter panel, what was the approach done by you or the shop, and where did they enter from?

My guy said that he expects most will be glue work but would like to know how to best get behind if needed. Current plan is to remove the bumper as he feels that might be the best route to give the best results. But i know there are a few holes in the door seam area but I’d also like to see who has tried these various areas and had success, if they are real access points, etc.?

I’ve watched various tear down videos but most don’t give the right angles to see entry point to get behind there.

I greatly appreciate any and all help or insight!

While I can't speak for your friends qualifications, if it were me, I'd be asking myself if I had to do the research for said friend, and if it was their first supra, would I want my car being the test case?

Granted its not my car but if it were me I'd be considering that as well.

PDR techs are not scared to drill access holes, so keep that in mind if they cannot find an access point and for some reason cannot use a glue puller.

I use to fix my cars and buddies cars long time ago as a hobby after getting professional training. I don't do this now (my eyes are too old and doing this with reading glasses is a royal PITA for me due to various distances from access point to ding using different length tools...especially at the threshold.. can't see well with or without glasses )..

My current DD (WRX) had over 20 hail dents 4-5 years ago and that was the last time I did PDR, come to think of it. At least that time I only had to use my rod tools a few times and was done mostly with glue puller. GL.

Update: Got the car back after and he did an amazing job, can’t recommend this guy enough! Looks like nothing ever happened. He even nailed fixing the fender line which scared everyone i talked to about it.

So what did he do for any future members or PDR specialists looking for support:

He used glue to pull (which we knew would do the heavy lifting) and for the fender line, which was the scariest part, the same. We did find a few access holes behind the bumper (needed a backup in case the glue didn’t fix it all) but due to the location it was an awkward reach and the hole is incredibly small.

If you are in need of a PDR guy in the Bay Area, that has OCD and will do everything he can to save the paint, he is your guy and will do it at an honest price. he also sends multiple update pics and videos along the way. (he even found some other small dents and took care of them!). his Instagram account is @jjjaacoobbb , and you can DM him. Super responsive and all around good dude
