I know you're being snarky, but I agree. It's going to be a while before there's a MKV Supra in the banger class.
I remember that any other platform I've dealt with had a separate ECU for AT or MT. I was hoping things have changed otherwise there would be a wave of people upset they can't go run 10s.
Since they can't...how crazy would it be if those people instead took the cars to road courses and autocrosses and found a whole new world of enjoyment out of a car?

My ECU(s) are now on route to Finland. “One more week” may eventually happen, but my personal one will happen right away. More money, sure, but I can always make more. Time however I cannot get back.

Also, in case you forgot.

There are ecus online but from what I've seen all are over 1200 easily I been searching a few collision shops for totaled a90s to see if they would part with the ecu but no lucc

Way more than $1200 unfortunately. I just happened to see one on the FB page and offered more than others. The way I look at it, they aren’t going to get any cheaper. I held out for a while hoping….and we’ll we see where that has gotten us so far.

Agreed supply is dwindling and causing hilarious price gouging. I am hopeful that obd unlock development starts in earnest when supply has dried up. So far the leaders in this space are making money hand over fist without having to put the time in. That won't last forever.

We'll see who truly wants to be a part of the tuning scene by those that solve this problem. The market is shifting, its very much a do or die for these companies because soon only standalone controllers will be available and the tuning modern street cars will go the way of the Dodo.

As a Debbie Downer the doom-and-gloom routine isn't just being upset I have to get price gouged $6k to have a tunable Supra, its what it spells for the future of fast street cars. Folks shouldn't be so happy and in a hurry to pay the premiums for instant gratification, we all play a part in forcing companies development focus and to a small extent regulation.

Not excited for a future where I have to choose a fast street car or technology and comfort. Nobody actually enjoys driving a Foxbody, they just like going fast for cheap.

You say that like cracking these things is easy. Nice speech though I guess.

Though, those that really want a comfortable car that is tunable just pony up, because who cares. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I never said it was easy, I know business. Nobody in this market at these scales are spending developer time when the current solution is making more than any previous product has.
You say pony up so casually. This “pay to play” mentality is the snake eating itself. Gamers call it P2W and it has destroyed the MMO game development. Let’s hope others are more gracious when you are inconvenienced and priced out of something you love. Toughen up buttercup doesn’t make anything better for anyone. A unified consumer base does. When that fails, supply and demand fixes the rest.

Motec is incredible, the problem is a massive amount of development work has to happen to map factory equipment to work. Currently switching to a Motec turns the Supra into a Caterham!

The current solution isn't really making anyone any money. Visconti isn't making that much, GTP isn't making that much, Femto isn't making that much. Going direct to them costs like a grand. And they have hundreds of hours of R&D in it, which isn't free. The only one really making out is DHL at $600 in shipping.

ECUs just aren't available, so, as the market dictates, the price goes up. The actual service price isn't there.

To tune on ECUTek if you have an unlocked Supra:
* Bench Unlock - $400
* Ecutek License - $575
* Ecutek ProECU Dongle - $275
* Tune - Depends $1200-$2500

$2400-$3750

To tune on ECUTek if you have an unlocked Supra:
* Spare ECU - Market Price (Currently, $2000, I got mine for $400)
* Shipping to and from Russia ($600)
* Femto - $900
* Bench Unlock - $400
* Ecutek License - $575
* Ecutek ProECU Dongle - $275
* Tune - Depends $1200-$2500

$4200-$7250

- $1800-$3500 Difference

And most of that is shipping and the cost of an ECU. There's literally no room in there for someone to profiteer on it. Add in insurance (or a replacement ECU if something goes wrong) and there is basically zero left. A few hundred bucks? Not to mention the hassle of shipping things over seas and dealing with customs.

And this is typically from people who spend thousands on CF Intakes, over-priced stainless steel exhausts, and BC Forged wheels.

If you want to go fast on a new platform, you gotta pay. In 10 years, sure. Things will be cheaper for this platform, maybe anyway. Even if there was a stateside unlock, it's still gonna be $400-$500 bucks.

I really, really don't understand all of the bitching and money about folks who own a $60k car over a couple extra thousand dollars. I'd expect it from the Mopar crowd paying 6% interest or whatever on a depreciating asset.

Hi guys, got updates from the source and there's 3 more ECUs left, they are all from 540i or X7s, with build date in late 2019 and series number starting from S10, can be shipped in 5-7 days.

The only problem is that the source couldn't find the VIN of the donor vehicle. And it's costly... as Zrk quoted it's gonna be $2k shipped. But planning to do $1800 each if we could do a group sell to save on international shipping.

DM if you are interested!

Is the VIN needed?
So with VIN Femto can confirm if it works 100%, without vin, the best we could do is find Gen2 B58 from the right vehicle, with a build date close to 2020.
