So bit of an update. My wife is driving the car and I told her to power through and REALLY get after the brakes, beyond the limits of good taste. The following session the shudder has pretty much cleared up so seems they're finally properly bedded. Will see how they behave the rest of the weekend.

Also, RE: Hoosier TAP 200tw -- I was able to match my lap time in my C7Z on the same size 3R, which were about 1 sec quicker than CR-S v2. Only 4 cycles so we'll see how they fair the weekend. I have a set of R7s for Monday open lapping so will be an interesting comparo.

Major shudder issues at VIR with the PMU Club Racers. I bedded them on the street and they felt fine. Midway through the first session and they are rattling the car apart. Worse on the 2nd session. Any suggestions before I swap the stock pads and toss these in the dumpster?
Definitely not the pad. As everyone mentioned, all 3 methods would work. New rotors with new pads (my fav), low grit sandpaper to remove the transfer film from previous pad material, or incredibly violent bed in. Same ? happened to me when I 1st got the car. A long time friend/good track buddy finally cleared up mine after a violent bed in. The shudder didn’t completely go away, but it got way better and I was able to finish my track weekend ?

Hope the rest of yours goes much better!!

I'm still on the fence with the PMU Club racers... I have the same issues you guys mention.

I received my Endless ME20 and new rotors a few weeks ago.

Now I'm wondering, do I take a chance swapping the rotors for brand new ones and try them with the Club Racers or change also the pads and go straight to the Endless pad...

As mentioned, the braking power seems to still be there, but have so much shudder in the steering as soon as I touch the brakes just saps my confidence in the car

Were the club racers on new rotors? Some will argue it’s a waste of money. To me it’s a peace of mind. Curious what you think of the MXRS pads.

Nah they were on the OEM rotors that I ran for 1500miles on stock pads before putting the club racers on. Did not try to remove the OEM transfer layer before putting the club racers in since I never had that kind of issue in the past swapping pads...

Bed pads in properly.

Think you bed them in properly? Bed them in more.

Did you bed them in more?

Bed them in more.

Not all of us have rural unused roads that we can do those types of speeds.

My local dragstrip (GA-400) is not brake bedding friendly :(

Idk how so many people have issues with pad compounds. Drive 2-3 fast laps without triggering ABS and every pad is going to be smoking hot and pretty well bedded in my experience. The “do a few hard stops” strategy is usually just not enough (although it’s a good start on your outlap).

I ran at least 6 front compounds, including 1 PMU, and 5 rear compounds this year and never changed rotors for pad swaps and haven’t had issues.

I swapped pads at least once at the last five events to test and compare setups at different tracks

I keep reading this, but truth be told, Ive been doing track days for almost 15 years, on 8 different cars with at least 5 different brands of track brake pads and never had the kind of issues I have with the PMU Club racers. I beeded those brakes multiple times, harder than I have ever bedded any brake pads in my life, having smoke coming out of the front calipers and burned material odors all over the cabin, still could not get rid of the shudder...

Like someone said earlier, maybe you could eventually get them to bed and finally stop shuddering (thruth be told, the car much better after those bed-in procedures and a few track days), but the fact that the brake pads is so capricious is a big turnoff for me. That car is not a dedicated track car and I dont really want to deal with track car issues...

Pretty similar here. I've tracked 6 cars and over a dozen different pad brands/combos and have never had a single issue with a HARD bed on the street and worst case a short first session on a new combo to seal the deal. Ferodo, Carbotech, Cobalt, EBC, Powerstop, etc.. The PMU are the only pad to ever give me any trouble with that bedding method. It took really over-driving a full 25 minute session to get them to finally behave. To put that into perspective, just counting the front and back straight braking zones at VIR, that's over 20 braking events from 145+ MPH.

So that all said, they performed well the rest of the 3 days we were there. I ran the car 3 sessions yesterday for fun and my quick thoughts on the pads are they 'feel' very similar to Carbotech XP10 but they wear much better and the dust isn't terrible. I don't care about the dust, but it is noteworthy how little accumulated, which is also a reflection of how little they wore. So far on the drive there and back (180 miles each way) they haven't made any noise which is another big plus. If it weren't for the horrendous bedding requirements, these pads are a grand slam homerun given the price point.

I tend to put new rotors on when changing compounds, I usually go through two sets of pads a season (about 15-20 days). So if I stick with the same pad, just one set of fresh rotors a season or 1.5 seasons depending on their thickness.

I have found going from PMU to another compound is okay on the same rotor.

It really pissed me off when the same thing happened to me on a Winmax pad. Another buddy used them all the time w/out problems. I never went back. I thought it was the pad. Now realizing if I don’t screw around with different compounds, I can keep the same rotor. So now I only lug around an extra set of pads (p mu 999 in this case) to the track. When I try/switch to the CSG pads, I’ll definitely be using new rotors with them.
