Anybody know of any good radar detectors? Too many mixed reviews.

Uniden R line seems to be where it's at, the uniden r8 seems to be the only one that works in PA/NJ bands according to the radar forums I've been on

I rock a Blendmount on a Uniden R8 and an Escort M2 Camera. It works great and looks great in the car.
Mind posting a photo of your setup? How do you power it? through the mirror tap?

Does the escort m2 camera pull power off the r8?

Not near it currently; however, there is another forum with a similar setup. I have the Uniden R8/Escort m2. But the same setup and wiretap+Mount. The Escort M2 Passes power through to the Uniden (Or Escort, They use the same power type)

The setup is expensive, so you can swap an R7/R8 with something a little more affordable, like an R3, and still be pretty good. However, I had an R7 and thought the R8 was a considerable upgrade (Even over a 360 Redline).

Let me know if you have any questions/need help.

Do you happen to have a link or part number of which blendmount you used?

Everything can be ordered at the BlendMount site; You would enter your car year and match which mirror you have. Once you do that, it will tell you which to go with. They also sell the Mirror Tap. ( I followed a guide on the forums - Tap red into the red and black into the brown/black slot in the mirror, be sure to check this with a multimeter)

This additional piece will be needed if you are doing an M1/M2 Camera. - https://blendmount.com/hardware-kit-escort-m1-m2-hd-dash-camera/

Nice setup! Love the Escort brand. Currently I have a tiny Catalyst tracking camera mounted (adhesive) next to my rear view mirror. Nothing to do with radars but takes up a tiny bit of window real estate.

If Escort beeps less in town than they use to, it would be a nice thing to have. Especially your setup.

Thanks! This is someone else's setup I currently run a Uniden R8 and Escort M2 Camera. Highly recommend an R8 over a Redline 360. I have had both and the escort is MUCH more talkative.

When they are serious about running a speed trap no radar/laser detector will help. I’m talking about having the laser operator set up on an overpass or in the woods or otherwise hidden with the rest of the troops positioned around the corner to to make the stops. Your laser detector in these cases is better described as a ticket notification device. I gave up on detectors when LiDAR became a thing. All it took was as that very quick short beep followed by noticing the guy in the rest area parking lot in a regular looking old beat up suv pointing the gun at me. There were like 10 marked cops just waiting on the back side to come get us…

WAZE and just paying attention has kept me ticket free for a very long time. I can’t remember my last ticket but I am fairly conservative. I typically stay around 10 over, sometimes a little more, but I stay away from the reckless driving scenarios.

forgot about LiDAR. Yeah that sucks. Hence why I’m doing the same thing as you for my in town driving.
