Rear Speakers - Only for fake engine noise?

Just wanted to know, is the four rear speakers (2 tweeters and 2 midranges) only dedicated for the fake engine noise? Thanks.

I believe the only amplifier used for Active Sound Design (aka fake engine noise) is the one shown in the following thread. When you unplug it, you no longer heard the fake engine noises. I've removed it entirely, but hanging on to it in case something comes up. (e.g. you actually need it plugged in to do things like the safety recall ECU update)

Bimmercode application and other tools allow turn off artificial engine sound. This is the best way to make configuration changes in your car.

The ASD "overlays" a synthesized low frequency exhaust noise "on top" of the audio signal sent to the OE subs...

There are 2 ways to disable ASD...

1) Using Bimmercode

2) Simply unplug the ASD module...
