Should I buy a used Supra?

One thing to watch out for on a corporate lease is ... They can order the specific car they want and delete single options that the dealer cannot. Mine has everything except for the Safety and Security package. So no parking sensors, cross traffic alerts or blind spot monitoring.

I'm a little disappointed that it isn't there but I am crazy happy with the car. I'll just be extra careful. ??

That is so weird. They can produce a rear bumper without sensors but keep the bumps on the front.

I attempted to search the topics but I didn't see anything around buying a used Supra and what someone should look for while inspecting the car.

A local dealer who has been looking out for an MT Supra for me, emailed me yesterday stating that they took in a Supra with about 3k miles on it. They are still getting me the details on the car. I imagine once they do they I will have limited time to make a decision on it.

I have a few concerns with buying a used car that mainly center around how the car was treated by the prior owner. I can't confirm that they broke it in correctly or didn't cause some sort of damage while driving.

But I am chomping at the bit to get a Supra. If the price is right and I don't see anything questionable I just may purchase the car.

I have a 23 MT on order with a few dealers, but recently I've thought that I may get an AT because I sit in traffic on the Dallas highways from time to time.

Any advice would be appreciated.

3000 miles? Buy it if it's a clean record. They probably didn't even have enough time to mess it up, especially if they broke it in for 1200 miles.

I'd say check the downpipe, exhaust, and just under the hood and compare that to a pic of a stock engine. Charge pipes, intakes are easy to spot. But even still, you'd be fine if they did modify those, but those are the likely culprits if anything was done.

But 3000 miles is probably 100% worth it.

Traffic won't be an issue. That said, I LOVE the auto on track. Straight up cheating.

I was an only manual kinda guy until I rushed so fast into the Supra I forgot it was auto, now idc at all. Auto makes more sense if you want speed and less effort.

Look for the same things as you would for any used car. The Supra is no different. Only thing I can think of that would be specific is the possible oil consumption. If it has any service records look for anything pertaining to oil other than a simple change. But keep in mind the vast majority don’t have the consumption problem. Forums tend to make things sound like when one car has it they all have it. Also, if there are records, look for the brake recall to have been performed. I didn’t see what year the car is that you’re talking about so the consumption and recall may not be relevant.

Oh, and shipping spacers in the suspension. At this point it is proven that NOBODY can be trusted with those.

Dealer doesn't remove them when doing PDI and wrecks the suspension if noticed way later.

Same here, I glanced at the front bumper and saw the bumps, I assumed (we all know where that gets us..) it had the sensors.

What!!!! You are sooooooooo lucky dude if you got a car without the lane departure bullshit ?. It’s just not needed and annoying as hell if this isn’t your 1st vehicle or learning how to drive. Smart dealer/guy/person whoever removed it. This is a car you actually want to drive. Makes sense without all that crap. Love it
