Hi everyone and greetings from Germany.
I’m the new guy here and wanna introduce my recently purchased Supra.
It’s a 2022, 3.0, automatic, with only 21000 km on it.

The previous owner only put on a carbonfiber ducktail, a pair of extended red aluminium shift paddles, H&R lowering springs and the red painted OEM wheels.
Which i know, looks awefull and clashes with the blue paint…
I always was interested in the MKV since it’s release and i have been lurking / reading along here for some years already.
The information and knowledge people provide here is just great.
On that note, you will NEVER see me asking what oil i need for my Supra ;-)

Now the plan with the Supra is to make it into a nice handling car for the twisty backroads here, keeping it street legal / TÜV approved, while also being track capable (Nordschleife Touristenfahrten).
Perfomance is always the main focus for all the upcoming mods, although the build will pale in comparison to other ones, from different countries, where the regulations are more lax…

Since we are all car people here you might be interested about my previous cars.

My very first car was a 1998 Toyota Starlet.
1,3 liter and 75HP
Light and very nimble car.
Basically ignited the joy of driving in me.

After 2 year i got rid of the Starlet and got an 2004 Mercedes C-Class Sportcoupe
1,8 liter supercharged 143HP
Was all about Mercedes back then, especially AMGs.
Really wanted an SLK but those where out of my budget.
Had the Merc for 12 years, powertrain is very reliable, but front suspension arms are the biggest weakpoint. almost every year a bushing failed.

During the time i had the Merc, i got a second car.
My first weekend / fun car.
A 1998 Nissan Skyline GTT, which the Supra now replaced.
I had the Sklyne for 8 years. put a lot of money and time into it.
But it’s super hard to modify an import car in Germany and keep it TÜV approved, coupled with some other factors, which led me to sell it this year.
In the end the Skyline had 414HP and 560ish NM of torque.

Fourth car, my current daily, since i had to get rid of the Merc.
2018 Suzuki Swift Sport
Mods: H&R lowering springs + clear LED tail lights
1,4 liter 140HP with 230NM of torque.
Not much to say, since i only had it for 1 year.

That’s it.
Hoping for a good time here.

I don't know about improving the car's handling but I'll be able to handle the photos of it a lot better with some paint applied to those wheels. Nice work looking past this and rescuing it from the previous owner!

Herzlich willkommen.

Welcome & hope they let you mod It w/out too much trouble. The stuff beyond the tires, pads & fluid. Such as: exhaust you like for sound, manifold if you track & some adjustable suspension goodies. You’ll be good to go 🏎 💨

Alright finally a little Update here.
After i got the Supra i just enjoyed driving for the little time left before i had to put her away for winter hibernation.

I tried to save up as much money as possible and at the beginning of this year i started to purchase some parts.

Yokohame Advan Sport V107 Tires
Front: R19/265/35
Back: R19/285/35
Japan Racing SL-01 Wheels in Light Gunmetal Grey
Front: 19x9,5 ET 31
Back: 19x10,5 ET 35
Japan Racing Blue Wheel Bolts
Valve Caps with GR Logo
BHsense black TPMS
Speed Engineering Canards
Cold Air intake from E-Intake
Project Mu HC+ Pads for the front
KW V3 Clubsport Suspension

The KW V3 was a spontaneous purchase (otherwise i would have gotten a downpipe), due to the 30th anniversary sale of KW going on, probably will install it only later this year.
The original plan was to get the normal V3 + Milway camber plates, when i was making my build plan there was no Clubsport variation available.
I also reached out to KW and asked how much camber i can excpect + what the spring rates are.

Answer:

Spring rate front: 60N/mm
Spring rate back: 140N/mm

Depending on how low the car is the maximum negativ camber can be around -2°25 to -2°55

I hope i can get the -2°5 camber in the front, although i guess -2°25 should be ok to.
Remember i drive 99% on the street, no need for some crazy camber going on.

Also a nice thing about the JR SL-01 wheels is their weight.
Advertised is for the front 9,4kg and back 9,9kg.
Ofcourse that variates a bit with the offset, the weight of mine:
Front: 9,8kg
Back: 10,5kg

Well now i'm just waiting for April 3rd so i can get the car out of it's garage spot and install all the parts.

Supra is out of winter storage and the first task was obviously to put on the purchased parts.

When i was changing the wheels i was surprised by the H&R spacers, didn't notice them before. 🤣
But with the new wheels and bolts i have no use for them anymore (for now at least).
Fittment still looks fine in my eyes.

Just some unedited pics for now.

I can also report that the TPMS work flawlessly out of the box. Instantly got pressure / temp readings from them.
Only a little message in the dash that a wheel change was recognized, which went away after i did the recalibration procedure in the infotainment menu.

Next the canards, where i messed things up 😒

Even though i triple checked if the position is good, I guess while marking the holes, i slightly shifted them resulting in the gap.
Not sure how i can fix that, without redrilling...

Intake install was mostly straight forward, just struggeld to get the inlet fully on the turbo. A bit of silcon spray and ellbow greas was necessary to get it on + making sure the clamp was tightened up.
Also had to fiddle around with the CCV hose/line to get it on.
In the future i will try to make a top cover, to further minimize the amount of hot air getting into it though. (+ turbo heat shield)

Brake pad swap was quite a pain in the ass.
First of all i realized all my screwdriver were to thick, so i couldn't get the pins out of the calipers.
Made a call to a buddy if i can come over, since he does all the work / repairs on his BMW himself.
Long story short, we were able to get the pins out, but it took a while, because of all the dirt and brake dust.

The Pads feel great and squeel only a tiny bit during parking maneuvers.

Next stop TÜV inspection and getting the mods approved.

TÜV inspection cleared, although the technician did not like my license plate holder using up the tow hook spot.
So i had to get it correctly installed with the factory holder in the middle of the bumper... oh well... 😩

A few days ago i bought the Verus Engineering turbo heat shield.
Install needed some finger acrobatics, but thank god i have small hands 😆
Duct tape was also helpfull to keep everything together until i aligned the screws.

Will be annoying when i have to get it off and on again for a downpipe install 🤪

I'm currently planning a trip to the Nordschleife for some Touristenfahrten next month.
Will be exciting to see how the Supra will perform.

Unless you got some titties hiding behind the spoiler tag, then no need to use the spoiler tag.

Good call on getting rid of those red stockies.

Old school forum habit, to save bandwith and loading time 🤣
And i don't want the readers to get instantly plasted with pictures.
But if people don't mind i can stop that.

Yes the red wheels were horrible.
The more i look at the gunmetal gray the more i like it on the car.
