SOLVED: https://www.supramkv.com/threads/ce...ng-for-advice-theories-help.32635/post-505039

Simply put, I am Femto unlocked with MHD running OTS Stage 2 and other than a pesky CEL, everything runs and feels great. Unfortunately, even after I have set MHD to ignore the after market downpipe CEL codes, I continue to get a CEL and the following error codes:

This.webp

My workshop suggested it is likely to be the 02 sensors so I had them replaced but the CEL and errors persist. Even stranger is that the CEL appears relatively randomly, this last time it appreared on the third drive after a total of about 100kms (since the error was cleared and the 02 sensor replaced).

Also, the other error that has appeared previouly was: 12AF20 - Oxygen sensor after catalytic converter, signal: Fixed at lean in coasting/overrun mode.

For context, I am running a cheap ass MODE Sportscat; AWE Touring resonated aechaust and other than a K&N filter, everything is pretty much stock. The car is just over two years old, has done 20,000km ( 12,000 miles) and has been following the standard Toyota servicing schedule - Last one was just under a month ago. Other than the CEL and these errors the car runs like a dream. I don't beat on it and never really gun it unless she has warmed up.

Our next step is to remove the DP and replace it with a catless DP (or maybe go back to stock) to see if this will solve the problem. While I have always suspected the DP/CAT to be the issue, it doesn't really make much sense to me.

I would really appreciate any advice anyone has about solving this issue as it is driving me nuts.

Has anyone encountered anything like this or have any suggestions as what could be the issue and/or what I can try to solve it? Does this even sound like it could be a faulty DP/CAT? At this point, it's just a process of elimination and unless something is properly fucked in the ECU, surely the DP/CAT is the problem?

Happy to provide more information, etc.

This is seriously doing my head in!

Check harness the rear o2 plugs into. Maybe not plugged in all the way or got damaged while installation?

Thanks for the input. The same error occurred before and after replacement, but worth rechecking everything there.

Thanks, it's an idea I'll follow up but I thought the defowler just masks codes that MHD should code out anyway?

Take it to the Dealer... then watch them laugh you out the door
Real helpful. Thanks heaps. 🙄

MHD suppresses different codes than what you are getting
Yeah that's what I figured but what do you reckon could be causing the codes? Could it just be a shit or faulty DP?

Thanks. I'll look into it. I just didn't think I needed one being tuned. Ugh.

Defouler won't fix your codes. First one is because of some fault in the electrical. So either bad wire, bad connection, bad sensor, or all.

Second code is most likely because of the first. It's unable to run the sensor heating routine.

Did you turn off cold start in MHD?

No when they installed the downpipe. Check the harness the o2 plugs to. Not the o2 harness. Maybe the installer yanked the harness and stretched it when removing/installing the downpipe.

Yeah. Sensor has been changed, so it's unlikely to be another faulty sensor. Might be wiring as suggested below?

And no, I haven't turned off cold start in MHD.

Yeah. This sounds reasonable. That's next on the list. Thanks!

Yes. Problem has been ongoing for well over six months now. I thought it was just a bad 02 sensor and since it's not just that, I thought I'd reach out for some help again. Pretty much what forums are for, no?

Thanks for the video link too.

First thing to check is the connection. I am happy to take some reference photos or even a video to show you where/how to check, if you are interested. It's on top of the engine so super easy to get to.

That'd be awesome.Even if you can just point me in the right direction I can take a look.

While I don't want to jinx it, I've done a few hundred kilometers and the CEL seems to be gone.

The problem: A fucking fuse.

After about 8 months of the CEL appearing at random and replacing an o2 sensor, it turns out that my CEL was due to a faulty god damn fuse. The fuse was half melted inside so it would intermittently fail and cause the CEL.

Unbelievable.

How did it happen?
