Spring compressor needed?

Does this platform require springs to be compressed in order to to remove front top hats for a camber plate install?

YES. Autozone will let you borrow a good set for $50.

No you don’t need them - just supprt suspension with a jack, undo all the strut bolts/wires, blast off the top hat/top strut bolt, lower jack, and swing it out.

Check YouTube for spring/coil over installs, plenty of vids.

And a pinch. Otherwise, I'd rather use a compressor. Assuming the one I rent fits the coils, that is.

You can buy a spring compressor set on Amazon for $25 that will do the job just fine if you're worried about it. I used them on mine, maybe it wasn't necessary but whatever, it's $25.

I’ve done probably 10 Supra without spring compressors. Top hats install/remove independent from strut. Or if you want all in one piece.. the whole point is using the floor jack to release the tension.

Thought I’d post here instead of a new thread: doing rhe camber plate install and have the sensors/lines detached and removed the sway bar connection but when lowering the strut with jack it drop down far enough for it to fall out the side. Doesn’t look like anything is catching - watched the verus video a few times to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Anyone have any ideas??

edit: I think what it is is the sway bar is aftermarket and larger diameter and the lower arm is hitting and not letting the assembly to lower. Guess I could either take the sway bar bracket off or get a compressor.

you could buy one from harbor freight for about $35. it's better to have it but there are other creative ways to get around like others said and dozens more..
