I sold my Supra few weeks ago because I couldn't get myself to turn it into a track car.
salvage title Supra with hail damage seems like the way to go. That way you know it's mechanically good underneath, but the hail damage will get you "over the hump" of not wanting to cut into it cosmetically

This is the route I am currently exploring; it seems like the price of Supras on Copart has come down some in the last 6 months.

My aim is full cage (mandatory in order to be able to remove airbags and install 6pt harness) and weight reduction while keeping the car relatively tidy and nice to look at.

Car weighed in at 1500kg before stripping with following mods
- full akrapovic (minus weight)
- recaro proracer rms (minus weight)
- Verus HD splitter + Rear diffuser (added weight)
- APR GTC-300 rear wing (added weight)
- HKS hipermax R coilover (minus weight)
- Endless F&R big brake package (minus weight)
- Verus brake ducting (added weight)
- Apex forged wheels (minus weight)

Heaviest items were sound deadening carpet. It had super thick foam; no wonder why our car is so quiet (hard to hear the exhaust). Airbags also heavy.
- rear panels were actually super light so we decided to put it back in to protect the cables as I load alot of gears in the boot when I drive to track.

Only panels I am keeping are what's shown in the pics
- Dash with no airbag
- Center console
- rear boot panels
- Door cards

I still have oem battery so that could be easily replaced anytime...
Once we finish we will re-weigh the car and post here.

FYI we are going with chromoly for our cage.
Off topic but do you mind sharing specs and possibly specs of the endless F&R BBK? TIA!

Fab guy did a great job, A-pilars bars fitted nice and tight.

The rules in NZ don’t require a crossbar on the main hoop?

I noticed that too, maybe the rear struts are close enough to qualify as the main hoop for diagonal and harness purposes?

What the guy said below.
I leave it upto the inspector after load testing the chromoly cage

Not a Corvette.
Those door bars are like so low why even bother, but hey, another country, another set of rules.

I agree. It's mandatory so I asked for lowest side bar height for ease of entry as it's still my daily.
I am doing time attack mostly; will update the side bars if I use it for wheel to wheel racing.
