Having owned my 26 RS3 for almost nine months now (see previous post) I can say I have zero regret. I still like my previous Supra as much as the RS3 and think they are both outstanding with many similarities and just a few differences (again, see previous post). What I can provide relative to your ā€œgremlinsā€ concern is my old Supra had more electronics issues than the RS3 does. CarPlay would just stop working every so often in the Supra which always required digging through the menus to find the settings that changed for absolutely no reason and with no owner input, changing them back, and then restarting the car. Happened. Every few months.
Only electronics issues in the RS3 is that, also every couple months the display will say things are loading and not go away. The weird part though is things still work. I still run CarPlay and the maps, music, Waze, etc. still works and displays properly. The only thing I don’t get is the name of the song playing which is normally displayed where I instead get the ā€œloadingā€ message that doesn’t go away. It resets itself the next start as long as the car sits long enough between starts for everything to go to ā€œsleepā€. It doesn’t resent by simply turning it off and then right back on.

That’s the only gremlin, and it’s very minor and infrequent, that I’ve had. Remember, the only people who complain on the internet are the unlucky few who have an issue. The other vast majority of us who don’t remain silent. And finally, AWD launches from 4000 RPM, on sticky autocross tires are hilariously fun. First couple times before I got used to it made my stomach a little queasy!
Glad to hear your experience has been positive.

I’ve been seeing reports of the DCT getting stuck in gear in manual shifting mode, and Audi ā€œpre senseā€ bugging out slamming the brakes and setting the e brake. That last one spooked me the most. Doesn’t sound common, but I’ve seen a handful of people report it. Here’s hoping they’re the unlucky few. The emergency breaking bug out has actually happened once on my Supra too. On the highway no less. That was unpleasant.

I’ve had similar problems to you with CarPlay in my Supra. About as frequent. The only cars I’ve owned with totally reliable CarPlay have been a MK7 GTI and MK7.5 Golf R. Both were wired only.

Good luck whatever you decide. Also, forgot to mention about your potential snow driving. Here’s my winter set up. The wheels are from APR and I run a square 19ā€ set up. Looks really nice and works great. However, I only ā€œneedā€ them for when the temps get too cold for the summer tires. I’m not running a true snow tire but instead have Continental DWS installed. My true snow tires are on my wife’s Jeep WrangleršŸ˜Ž. I could use the RS3 if I got caught in a surprise snow situation but it’s really so I can still drive it when temps get below 40 and the summer tires turn to bricks. In your case, a true winter tire and AWD would go damn near anywhere. I’d imagine only snow so deep the car becomes a plow would stop you.

Nice setup. The Contis sound great for cold temp driving.

Someone local was selling a barely used set of 2025 RS3 wheels at a good price and I jumped on them. I’m going to use them with Michelin Alpin PA4s for my winter setup.

I ran Michelin CrossClimates on square 18’s on my Supra in the winter. Worked really well. Just a little squishy.
