Besides the bottom cushion being lowered all the way, what's the best position for the seats to be in for removal?

I found it easiest to have the seats in the down position (as you mentioned) once the bolt are removed. Then I had the seat slightly tilted back (vertical part of the seat). I also placed thick moving blankets between the console/seat and one on the door jamb it's self for added protection for removal and re-install. Keep an eye on the top of the seat (headrest) when removing. The pivoting action can be tricky.

Did you pry the silver headrest trim pieces off from the top down or the bottom up? I have the workshop manual, but it doesn't state which direction to remove.

I decided to go full custom red leather. I already had the steering wheel and the Alea leathers were not close enough for me. Had a local shop take care of it. Dropped car off Monday and picked up Friday. The custom dyed the hides to match my steering wheel. I added a small touch of black Alcantara on the seat and used the CF inserts up top. They matched the silver OEM stitching and added a few small touches. The job came out perfect and I could not happier.

there are tabs on the bottom if you pull them up and out they should come out. They are in there super tight so be careful. Here is a pic of my seats in the process you can see the longer cutout area in the foam where the tabs go.

Anyone tried or know how katzkin’s look in our cars? Judging by google images on other models it appears there’s a bit of wrinkles occasionally for some folk. Which would kill it for me. Needs to look factory if I’m dropping $1,000+ just for the material. Albeit it could be the installer.

Follow up if anyone was curious as I was as to how katzkin upholstery would look in our cars. I bit the bullet and took the risk. I’m happy to say I like how it turned out. Looks pretty OEM in my opinion. I got it in autumn color leather. Cost around $2,000 installed. It really wakes up the dull interior and has a nice contrast to the blue exterior.
