For ~$11k all in, I'd sell my auto Supra and just buy a factory manual.

Is there another purpose for this swap?
Being able to swap in a t56 that’s capable of 1k+ hp/tq is a pretty big deal for racing

Are people breaking the transmission after the clutch swap? What type of racing also matters.

Why would you do that when you can already build the auto for >1k whp and it will be faster than you shifting manually?
Because it can make losing more fun?? That’s all I can come up with.

Maybe a Supra GTS 2023 MT, Kia Stonic GT, Mazda CX5 GT SP

Apart from the higher torque capacity it would be the better ratios. The std 1st gear is very low for a sports car and the T-56 also has the overdrive 5th and 6th gears so lower cruising rpm. The B58 is a bit of a torque monster so the higher 1st and overdrive top gears it would pull easily and the first to second shift would be better. Would I do it ,no but auto owners wanting a manual it would have it's benefits over the std gearbox.

Believe it not, people like building manual cars

I’ve talked with a lot of tuners/shops and so far apparently no one’s blown up the trans yet, which I find hard to believe. Might be one of those things you just don’t talk about but there are plenty of cars pushing upper 700’s for torque but the longevity is unclear

I don’t know of any high hp mt’s doing digs but with a t56 you can add a slipper clutch and really turn these into capable dig cars. That’s why I’m asking about the swap and I’d love to see if anyone’s ironed it out already

Isn't it similar to the MT in the F series? I would imagine those guys have been running big power for longer. Might be good to dig in there and see.

Good point. I haven’t looked too deep into any bmw threads yet

2026 Supra GR manual
I purchased a 2026 Supra manual and it was flawlessly working till a singular 2nd gear pop out. After that 2nd gear pop out, I've lost all trust in the factory 6 speed transmission. I've replaced all the stock shift parts and even tried it with a urethane bushing kit, and nothing seemed to quite fix the issue and it still pops out of 2nd gear usually when you need it.

The pop out started at 480ish miles, and the car currently has 799 miles on it. I purchased it August 2025 and it's sat there for months waiting on a T56 swap. I have all the parts now to do the Grannas T56 swap and the Grannas 8.8 rearend swap too. I've not had enough response on getting the tuning or coding figured out. I've been told way to much and definitely not enough to make the install be a thrill.

I'll start on it today I suppose and hopefully before I'm done, I can get some more info about the unlock, tuning or the need to simply Bimmer Link and code the shifting parameters correctly.

Personally, the stock Supra transmission isn't for people that want to shift fast and that is where the T56 would come into play, a transmission that feels like a transmission. I might make a post later of the transmission swap and anything I've run into along the way. I do know for a fact you loose your reverse light (maybe backup camera), and rev match options and gear number indication. On the bright side there are a few people working on making a sensor to allow all these options back. I'm not crazy about these facts at all, but to trust my second gear again will be awesome.
