That 1-2 Shift: CDV Delete and iMT Rev Matching - A Match Made in Hell?

After having done the CDV delete and found it to be OK (but largely underwhelming), I recently discovered that our iMT rev matching works both going up and down the gears. After a bit of testing, I think I have discovered the culprit of the clutch demons that plague the 1-2 gear change in this car.

With the the rev matching turned off, the 1-2 shift is light and day different and significantly improved; so much so that turning this setting off made the CDV delete on its own practically useless.

This got me thinking: As I have grown to quite like the rev match on downshift, is there a way through Bimmercode to turn off the rev matching function only on upshifts? After a few drives with rev matching turned off, I'm pretty confident this bullshit upshift rev matching is what is interfering with the gear changes, particularly that god awful 1-2 shift.

I haven't come across any Bimmercode coding to do this but was wondering what a possible solution might be. Obviously, I'll just keep the iMT off for now, but could it be addressed another way: MHD/BM3 custom tune? Hardware hack? Voodoo?

Haven’t done the CDV delete, but I agree with you that the 1-2 shift is much smoother for me with rev-match turned off. Maybe there’s slightly less rev-hang while upshifting with it off, or maybe it’s the throttle mapping in sport mode. Whatever it is, I do find it much smoother with it off.

You can only turn it off in Sport mode - If you go the Sport settings, there's a checkbox you need to untick. I drive in Sport mode pretty much exclusively and sometimes forget that others don't.

Okay I tried it this morning and definitely made a difference, the car feel is a bit more raw now. I still have the CDV on btw was still debating if it was worth removing. My car is always on sport so gonna keep it this way.

I was wondering about this and found this thread. I'm guessing no one's found a solution yet?

I did CDV delete which helped but didn't resolve the 1-2 shift issue, but I do like rev matching in downshifting so I like to keep it on.

My only solution I've come up with so far, is that when I upshift to 2nd gear, I wait 1-2 seconds before letting up the clutch pedal, and the shift is quite smooth.

I cant say that I have ever noticed this but then again I have never driven with the rev match on
