Swapped out for a '92 NA hatch; car was originally Pre89 turbo

lucky. would have done same if not for 89+ 3 piece side pieces. but i guess hatch swap would allow to deal w/ 5 less holes in my case

All good! I know it's a vocal minority, but it ends up steering things way off course, and I don't like participating in the wave of negativity. It puts me in a bad mood and then I end up not wanting to say anything... I wouldn't want them to get banned or anything though either, as I think they should be free to express their opinions.

I will simply steer clear, keep things positive, and post what I always have. It will just be in here or if folks PM me a question.

with that out of the way, back to business:

Mram mentioned the oil cap is in a different location and posits that the cylinder heads are different between the two motors. it would explain the different redlines even if both motors use the same block. Need to dig into this further and try to get some more answers.

I also want to hear what an engineer has to say vs Tada's colleague. Colleague said both cars are using the same engine now as far as he is aware, and he has never been wrong thus far, but this detail piqued my curiosity. He was the same person that in the past said BMW was very hesitant to use the Toyota motor.

nothing new price wise, but a TMS USA analyst recently (past week) messaged me that the 4cyl model may be delayed possibly until Q4 2019.

I tried to cross check this with another TMS employee thats higher up in another division and he said it could be true but that all info he had been given said still on track for March/April '19. He also said the two may have been broken into two seperate teams, one for 6cyl and one for 4cyl explaining the break in communication.

I'll see if I can get any updates on pricing, but we lost our main guy that managed a ton of stuff for TMS. He moved on to Lexus and it's made it hard to get anything aside from what the other guys get through the grapevine.

Never noticed the oil caps. I looked carefully at the 2 and to me it looks like the location is the same but the orientation of the cap is indeed different. Could that perhaps be down to manufacturer preference that the top part of the cap sits at different angles?

I know exactly nothing about colors and wheels unfortunately, aside from them having a few different final wheel designs they were choosing between.

It definitely could just be a compatibility or preference thing, but there might be more to it than that.

yeah, target for the 4cyl was 45k and target for the 6 cyl was originally 55k. I recently was told the target for the 4cyl was in the same area, but I've heard all sorts of rumors about the 6cyl lol.

Tada said 55k several times though, all the way up until earlier this year when all the drama started and folks were saying 60, 63.5, 65k , etc.

Hopefully it stays at 55k or lower. My household income between the two of us should be about 220k when the car comes out. However, I'm a stingy first generation immigrant and still a young man so it feels weird to spend that much on a car. Won't have kids for a while though so maybe I just need to live a little?
