Hopefully it stays at 55k or lower. My household income between the two of us should be about 220k when the car comes out. However, I'm a stingy first generation immigrant and still a young man so it feels weird to spend that much on a car. Won't have kids for a while though so maybe I just need to live a little?
Give something your kids can look forward to, until the you realize the appreciation and never let them touch it. :)

A70 what are the cars you've worked on over your history with Toyota, interested to see your opinion on each of them.

Toyota: Crown, Alphard, Auris, Supra.

I liked all of them honestly, but my least favorite would be the Auris (it's a simple economy car after all). I've always loved the Hiace and as such enjoyed working on Alphard, but I LOVE the Crown (my favorite Toyota sedan), and the Supra was definitely an interesting one for many reasons and will likely be the most memorable of my career.

On the Lexus side, I've hinted at it quite a bit, but it's still more or less under wraps.

One question that i'm super curious about...

Are you optimistic about HP levels being over 400hp on the Supra?

Haha,

I wouldn't be surprised if he responds by saying he's very optimistic about his NDA kicking him out of future Toyota endeavors.

Can you ask someone official from Toyota to already release some basic info? I know it’s a long shot but since you are deep in with these guys.

I can't say anything on the specific power levels at the moment, but it's not 400+.

Guff and Chikane have been working on that forever to no avail. Engineering side is separate from marketing/PR, so I dont have much pull on that, and all of the engineers feeding me info aren't technically supposed to be doing that (not to mention me slowly giving it out on here). Tada is the only one that has the freedom to release information, and I'd rather not have him be suspicious.

I wish there was more I could do for you guys that want the super concrete facts, but I can't. I'm sorry.

I have been curious about the 3 sports cars that toyota wanted to have. If an entry model entered beneath the 86 , that would push the 86 into about 270 hp and closer to 35k -ish . If something like that happens , the 4 cyl supra will probably compete with the 86 ?

By the way when celica and supra were into productin in the early 90s , the celica gt4 had 255hp with all wheel drive and the low trim NA supra had 220 hp so in my mind they could be pulling something similar.

I really like how the engineer of the project has been placed in such a high position to the public. Usually it's a project manager, or manager, not a technical/engineering person.

No PR middlemen, the chief engineer is front and centre.

That's unusual, and that's cool.

Not sure if you can answer this but, with BMW using the CGI motor(BJZ) Did they offer something else in return?

@A70TTR .. what are your thoughts on the interview with the G29 CD? How do you interpret ‘Toyota ordered a car and we delivered it’ ?

I laughed when I saw that, but I'd rather just leave it be.

I will say this though: there are interviews going WAY back about the two companies doing feasibility studies, market research, and then starting chassis development, so to say it wasn't a collab is quite comical.

Shouldn’t this be addressed in a way that BMW executives don’t underplay toyota’s Involvement ?

At the end of the day.. market perception is everything when it comes to a model being a success or failure.
