Thanks for the input mate and congratulations on making it to waiting hell along with the rest of us. ?Hey guys, I was reading this thread so thought I'd sign up and share too.
I'm a business manager at a Toyota Dealership here in Brisbane.
I've been driving my Sedan N since release (first registered one in QLD) and the Supra has been on my want list. Went down and saw my mate who is the Sales Manager (I don't work in the Toyota showroom). My brother works in the Toyota showroom though.
Anyway, I've signed up on a MY23 GTS Azure Blue in Auto. My wife can't drive manual, but that gearbox is amazing, so I'm happy.
I just wanted to share my thoughts, based on what I've been reading here;
I originally saw MY years vs build date years - They are definitely different things. One is about the model year (features and differences between cars differentiate by the MY) and build date is when the car was actually built. So you can have a 2022 MY23.
The new Supra isn't in the system to be ordered yet. So even my own sign-up isn't on the actual real car - my sign-up had to be on the current Supra. It's basically a "list" for once the dealership does start getting allocations from Toyota, then they will know who is on the list and how/order to allocate the cars once it is in the system.
Toyota are generally good with updates and everything, but really, we have no idea, until Toyota themselves gives us a date. ETA's are just an rough estimate, until it's from Toyota. Then we know. Dealership ETAs are guesses from experience/estimates.
We have a Toyota rep coming in, over the coming weeks and hopefully the guys will be able to bring it up and see if there is any further info on dates and allocations.
They may well already be here in Australia, waiting for the official release.
Anyway guys, I'm excited none the less. I don't work in the Toyota area, but I do work at the dealership, so if I get any cool, open, news, I'll be sure to share
I hope they are doing auto's in the first batch, not just manuals! And if so, I reckon I might get mine around June next year
Cheers,
Rich
I don't know. I enjoy seeing all the manual vs auto banter but I just don't buy the auto arguments at all. I test drove the Supra in AT and I'll admit it was good.. for an automatic transmission. I think once you get back to rowing gears you will be salty you ever had to endure owning an AT at all. I am pissed off that Toyota made me wait three years before placing my MT order!I'm definitely excited. But I'm also sad as I will kinda miss the 8aT in full manual mode (even though I'm a manual tragic, all my other supras are manual)...
