When did your order go through MA617M?
The minute it was teased I told the dealer I wanted in.

Haven't actually put money down but my order is in the system... The dealer is pretty good thankfully.

Do you know the date they put your order in? Just trying to compare time wise, if your order date is a similar date to mine I'll know I still have a long wait ahead of me.
Did they give you a batch number?
Hehehehe, 20 questions :)

First text message to dealer saying I am interested was April 15... subject to test drive.
Confirmed I wanted it (removed test drive condition) was 8th May.

Ok cool, thanks for the update MA617M.
Pretty similar times for us so it looks like I'm waiting until next year too :(
Disappointing when I was told it would be here in October, sign of the times though I guess, what can you do.

Just got a update from my sales, my sales man simplely did a screenshot on the their system and send to me  I got a status of A20 (scheduled for production)and batch number. Original planned production date said 15th Sep and actual production date in blank

He also tell me that for Australia because the car is not manufactured by toyota, they only got "Randomly" updated about the status. in conclution, as my ordered my car at late May, I could got it around late Nov or as late as next Feb, anyone else got the similar info as me ? I dont believe people in Australia were "randomly" received the supra they ordered (if the car is in production they should been assigned ship, port and etc)

Ugh. Called my stealer today for my monthly check-in and no real news. other than maybe my Alcantara seats are holding up the order. They have a few orders with manufacturing dates - all ordered in the first half of the year and all without Alcantara seats.

Hey guys, I was reading this thread so thought I'd sign up and share too.

I'm a business manager at a Toyota Dealership here in Brisbane.

I've been driving my Sedan N since release (first registered one in QLD) and the Supra has been on my want list. Went down and saw my mate who is the Sales Manager (I don't work in the Toyota showroom). My brother works in the Toyota showroom though.

Anyway, I've signed up on a MY23 GTS Azure Blue in Auto. My wife can't drive manual, but that gearbox is amazing, so I'm happy.

I just wanted to share my thoughts, based on what I've been reading here;

I originally saw MY years vs build date years - They are definitely different things. One is about the model year (features and differences between cars differentiate by the MY) and build date is when the car was actually built. So you can have a 2022 MY23.

The new Supra isn't in the system to be ordered yet. So even my own sign-up isn't on the actual real car - my sign-up had to be on the current Supra. It's basically a "list" for once the dealership does start getting allocations from Toyota, then they will know who is on the list and how/order to allocate the cars once it is in the system.

Toyota are generally good with updates and everything, but really, we have no idea, until Toyota themselves gives us a date. ETA's are just an rough estimate, until it's from Toyota. Then we know. Dealership ETAs are guesses from experience/estimates.

We have a Toyota rep coming in, over the coming weeks and hopefully the guys will be able to bring it up and see if there is any further info on dates and allocations.

They may well already be here in Australia, waiting for the official release.

Anyway guys, I'm excited none the less. I don't work in the Toyota area, but I do work at the dealership, so if I get any cool, open, news, I'll be sure to share :)

I hope they are doing auto's in the first batch, not just manuals! And if so, I reckon I might get mine around June next year :)

Cheers,
Rich

Haha, cheers guys. My wife wouldn't mind if I went manual. But when I had my manual cars - Skylines and Mustang, I never got to share the experience with her.

None the less, always happy to help and share when I can.

I'll try and keep an eye on the thread. I'm excited as hell about the Supra.

I'm definitely excited. But I'm also sad as I will kinda miss the 8aT in full manual mode (even though I'm a manual tragic, all my other supras are manual)...

I don't know. I enjoy seeing all the manual vs auto banter but I just don't buy the auto arguments at all. I test drove the Supra in AT and I'll admit it was good.. for an automatic transmission. I think once you get back to rowing gears you will be salty you ever had to endure owning an AT at all. I am pissed off that Toyota made me wait three years before placing my MT order!

And I haven't ever heard of anyone going from an AT to MT and then pining for their old automatic cars... except for maybe the driving a manual in traffic hurts my little brain and soft legs and I bought a Supra to go really fast and eek out every last tenth crowds. In fact, not even.. because they wouldn't ever buy a manual anyway.

All jokes aside, it's a personal choice.. it just so happens that one of those choices is wrong. ?

I agree. I have had Supras since 2003, and rowing your own gears is the best. All my old Supras are modified and turbo, and my race supra is a 5 speed.... it was an auto when I bought it, and it went in the bin (literally) within a week hahah

I live in rural Vic... so no traffic to deal with.

Around town, the AT is just like any other. Boring, predictable, polite. Even in VSC sport, it's a bit tame... I legit never though they'd bring out the manual...

It's the full VSC off runs through the mountains and on the track that made me think... this thing is a weapon. It is as close to a street-sequential as you can get... It's better than the AMG DCTs in the family, and the RCF 8AT by a country mile... The way you could build speed with it was just brutal.

I am more than happy going to 6MT, very excited... but in a world where money wasn't an issue. I'd be putting the A70 back to a street car and having an 8AT A90 as a track weapon.

But keen to see how the 6MT feels, I hope it's a little less modern low torque turbo feel and more old school laggy...
