So.. I have actual news!

Firstly, the great news is that it looks like my car has magically been built (WTF) and is already on a boat! Estimated delivery is early June.. depending on the ports playing ball, etc.

Also, I got to test drive a manual and well.. it wasn't exactly love at first shift. I didn't hate it but it just wasn't.. comfortable? I had to move the seat forward because the clutch pedal was very deep.. and this increased the ride height because moving the seat forward seems to move it forward and up. The footwell also felt pretty crowded which may be good for heel/toe changes but felt a bit cramped to my size 10.5 feet.

The power was batshit crazy but the delivery didn't feel very smooth. While we were giggling like school children every time I punched the throttle, the manual gear box (and more than likely, my changes) made the experience quite jolting. I think this was mainly due to my not being used to the car's clutch and gear selector but it just added to this feeling of lack of comfort, for want of a better term. Don't get me wrong, it was a lot of fun, but for me, I think it will just take some getting used to.

I also continue to hate the dash.. which is possibly the only Toyota looking part of the entire car. This was made worse having come straight from a BMW dealership. Thankfully, I mostly used the HUD during the test drive so it wasn't too bad.

Beyond this, the dealer suggested that they are currently unable to place orders for yellow Supras. They're not sure if this is a temporary paint supply issue or perhaps a premonition for a MY24 change? If it is, it will make yellow MTs rare af.

A mixed bag really. lol.

EDIT: And I experienced the wind buffeting problem for the first time today. Whoever says that isn't an issue hasn't driven the Supra at speed with the windows down. Wowsers.. I'm going to be applying a fix for that as soon as this thing hits my garage!
Wow, good detail here. Interesting points. Them type r gearboxes hahahhaa

June, nice. Not long for you man

Yes, there is a difference in sport mode I think lmfao. I checked the options the other day actually thinking the transmission was one of them too but it isnt. So it could be throttle response like you said.
Having said that though I always start her in sport mode unless I am driving into work which is a short trip into the CBD through 50kph suburban streets.
It is noticeably easier to be smooth the couple of times I've done that.

100% - there is a post somewhere here where I confirmed - sport mode DOES change the relationship between pedal and throttle to make the car feel more responsive.

(i.e. at 25% pedal, engine throttle is actually at ~35% open)

Not to mention opening the flap (makes only a tiny difference in AU models) and adding the burbles

Now that's what I'm taking about!

And it's not necessarily about a screen.. it's more just something that is well designed and pops. I think it's hard to argue that the Supra dash does that.. but horses for courses.
Agreed. It does have a lot of blank space and is a little clunky. I used to have GPS on just to bring up the little map preview to fill the space... same for radar cruise haha.

I have to admit, this is my favourite dash of my whole fleet....

and a further side note, I was designing my own racepack dash for the A70 racecar - inspired byby the JDM A70 digidash:

Daaammmnnn lmfao, jealous as! No updates for me still.

Did they tell you if it was an April build? Mine has had April 2023 production ticked for ages with no vin or update. I have my fingers crossed that my car is parked right next to yours on the boat ><

I was told yesterday that the yellow will be discontinued. My nephew told me this - he works in the Toyota dealership.

Hey lmfao

First post

I was intending to place an order on a Yellow Supra in the GT spec just last weekend but ended up ordering a red one.
So the shed some light on what I heard about the yellow ones from the sales is this:
-Yellow was the least popular colour and it’s discontinued
-They’re introducing Solaris Orange ( the paint colour they had for the GR86 10year edition)
so congrats to you for your yellow MT, I’m proper jealous of it!

Also hi to everyone else, I’ll be joining this waiting hell with an estimated 18months wait haha.

Don't write that idea off mate. When the sales guy pulled up my record he was in disbelief lol. I think he said it looks like it was built in February or March but I'm not too sure - I was in disbelief too! From what he said, it appears that because Supras are not built in a "Toyota" factory, the updates are pretty sporadic.

I was told yesterday that the yellow will be discontinued. My nephew told me this - he works in the Toyota dealership.
Interesting. Thank god my yellow actual got built in time!

Oh yes, one more thing lmfao.....
I hear u on the wind buffeting, it is insane but also easy to fix. I went to an autopro (I think) store and spent $12 on a Hypersonic door guard pack, stuck em on and problem solvered!
It really does make a big diff.
There is still noise and perhaps the occasional buffeting if the wind is hitting from a certain direction but it really does work. At 100kph its now no diff really to any other cars I've been in.

Oh yeah Danny, they would look awesome with my carbon fibre mirror caps, may have to upgrade at some point. I just wanted a quick, cheap fix at the time and it did work.

I like the design but the issue is ground clearance and the "one time" you mess up.
Just as a heads-up.. I can't find the picture - maybe it was on facebook - but someone posted a picture of the Sto-n-show fitted without the plate. The Sto-n-sho ends up being way higher than the two plastic aero things (not sure what they are called) that are in front of the wheels, so I don't think that adding an extra 1cm to the front is going to be of any concern.

Update from dealer: Supra is stuck at port. Confirmed it is in Australia. Expected at dealership on 1st of May now. If this is accurate, then I’ll be picking it up Saturday 6th of may.

Frustrating, but it looks like we’re getting to the pointy end…
