I agree that being picky will make you criticize any car, But to think about it, the 86 and the GR Corolla both have a manual handbrake and its there for a reason. On a manul car its a factor of being slower to use, more frustrating because it requires you to hold to the brake down to engage or disengage and often times does switch has a delay or requires a longer hold. If your battery is dead it will not disengage or engage. It solves a problem that never existed for the driver.Wow - I have to wonder if ANY car is good enough. I mean, I get being picky but to reconsider your deposit based on a parking brake… I’ve never heard of that before.

While I do prefer a manual handbrake. These cars will hold the brakes themselves on a hill. And the electronic parking brake can be pressed while moving and used as an emergency brake. Battery being dead is definitely an annoying one though!I agree that being picky will make you criticize any car, But to think about it, the 86 and the GR Corolla both have a manual handbrake and its there for a reason. Not to mention it’s not even an emergency brake anymore. You can’t use a button parking brake while you’re moving so I’m not even sure what I would do if my brakes didn’t work in a car like that.
It can get you out of situations when traction is tricky and pulling the handbrake can straighten it out.
You can go 6 to 2 by holding down the downshift paddle... FYII may be in the minority. But I don't get the MT hype.
I just finished 6.5 years with a MT. Yes, it does add a bit of fun to choose when to up shift or down shift into the upcoming corner. Fun to have the connection between the scream of the engine and your foot. Dropping a gear to pass an a** hole in the passing lane is positively cathartic.
But isn't that all achievable with the paddle shifters? I understand you can't just throw it from 6 to 2. The paddles are sequential. But that's race car right? All race cars have sequential gear boxes.
You guys ever drive an MT in heavy traffic? Day after day after day? And with these more powerful engines you end up with heavier and heaver clutches. OK for the race track. But for a daily it just gets old.
Finally, isn't this JZA80 tranny pretty hot? What will you do when MT comes up with slower 0-60 times than the AT? And this is not uncommon. Noise regulations, fuel consumption, and other design goals lead mfgs to choose unfavorable lower gear ratios in MTs.

Different strokes for different folks.I may be in the minority. But I don't get the MT hype.

Oh, thanks. Not out of the break in period. Haven't tried hooning it up yet. Thanks!Actually if you hold down the paddle it will auto shift to the lowest possible gear determined to be rpm safe for the engine depending on the speed you are going.
Its because the manual was an afterthought - I really hope its not a giant kludge.I agree that being picky will make you criticize any car, But to think about it, the 86 and the GR Corolla both have a manual handbrake and its there for a reason.
