They would probably have the different head designs
Idk about that. Others have hinted that Toyota will save that for the GRMN/TRD version. I'm betting it's just the more powerful B58 also found in the US spec Z4, which is also 382hp.
I am referring to the BMW B58 heads, one with the integrated exhaust manifold like in the X5, and the one with the traditonal style in the Z4, not the supposed Yahama/TRD/GR head
LOL I was thinking the EXACT same thing and was going to make a quick mention of that. Glad you did. Nine thousand dollars does NOT justify 52 horsepower. Add 100 to that number then maybe it can justify that price jump.
152 horsepower difference and better suspension, chassis, and driveline upgrades? Fine. But what they're thinking right now is ridiculous. And to think these guys started off five thousand dollars more expensive than what they're proposing now. I share the same belief as someone mentioned early on that it should get another five thousand dollar decrease again, and too add on to that, the base model having the 382 horsepower engine, NOT 335.
They can lighten it, Track version probably has forged wheels. Maybe a suspension upgrade with better seats. All of that + 52 HP. Toyota would justify 9K increase.
And different heads
For those who dont know where those numbers are coming from, there are 2 different versions of the updated B58
Ok I was also thinking its whatever is under the hood of the US Z4. Hence the same power output.
Why can't it be both? The head shown in the RealOem leaks, in spy photos, and according to VIN leaks all cross reference the X5 or look like the X5 head aka the 330-340hp version
A $9k premium for the "Track" trim can be justified if the upgrades parallel what the competitors do to differentiate their base and track models (e.g. the Camaro ZL1 vs Camaro ZL1 1LE; Corvette C7 vs C7 Grand Sport, etc.).
In that post I'm just referring to the track version.
In that post, you were clear as mud.
I am simply explaining the 2 different HP 6 cylinder outputs (base vs track) and how they correspond with 2 different versions of the B58 heads (integrated manifold vs traditional) in terms of power
Encase you missed it I was agreeing with you...
Really? "Ok I was also thinking its whatever is under the hood of the US Z4. Hence the same power output." But ok whatever.
I think the 9K delta will justify the track version perfectly. 52hp increase along with xxlbs of weight loss and carbon fiber bits could make for an ideal track day weapon.
This sounds promising. A proper “track” version will obviously include a lot more than the extra power: less weight, better suspension, more cooling capacity, better brakes, better tires.
Hopefully it’s true.
