Thanks for the reply! I’m trying to find if it is something tune related or some torque limiter issues. After reading and talking to people that have had tranny slipping, They don't have this symptoms. Thats why Im leaning to tune or sensor related. It will suck to spend 6k on the tranny to still have the same issue.
I'm leaning towards tranny as I've essentially been on the same tune since 2020. This limp mode shit started this year for me and I've had Payn look at logs for me on different occasions. Kinda how we came to this conclusion.

So kind of a related question. Is 6th gear in this car just cursed? Since installing the stiffer transmission mounts in the car, I've noticed that the only really intrusive NVH comes when the car is in 6th gear. Doesn't matter what RPM the engine is spinning at, so doesn't seem to be some kind of harmonics issue. Is there just something about 6th gear?

Not really. You might get a 'trans overheat' or something sometimes. Trans is hard, because it's FlexRay not CANBus, so we can't read it as easily.
Thanks! Sorry to ask so many questions but I don't plan on going any higher in hp than 650ish. There is a local guy here that does the stage 0( changes clutch packs to GPZ friction clutch plates) and he says it holds up. For around $2.5k. Should I go with this or pure stage 1?

I would just go with something reputable and spend the money on a Pure Stage 0 or get a Jacks 750 if you dont plan on anything higher than 650. Both will be similar price range options.

Definitely going with Pure stage 0 or 1. Now is time to figure out the shipping process.

Why would you go WOT at such a low rpm at such a high gear? I’ve always been told that’s a good way to hurt things you don’t want to.

I totally agree. Got carried away enjoying the boost discharge. You can break lots of things doing that.

What risk is there to a running a high gear/low RPM/high boost situation?
The known tranny slipping.
Damaging/bending/breaking engine internals like connecting rods, crankshaft, etc.
No bueno!

Have we had a known case of a B58 being damaged because of this? I'm just having a hard time believing BMW would engineer a motor that goes in damn near all of their passenger cars at this point that can't handle a condition such as this.
