xHP trans tune now has a "True Manual" mode. that leave the car in gear until you shift it. Ive never noticed mine shifting out of gear touching the limiter, but i have seen on here people claim their cars does.... Ive also never let it sit on the limiter either to check if my car eventually would shift.
My car will happily bounce off the rev limiter without shifting too. Some folks claim it does, but I've yet to see proof.

Yeah, I'm willing to bet we're not getting the whole story here. I'm 100% sure in "M" it will not shift on it's own, up or down...

Tough crowd today. The OPs problem is very specific. He stated that it only occurs in 6th, in manual mode, only a moderate push of accel. He never mentioned hitting red line and he didn't mention any other gear. I too have bounced on the rev limiter, because I forgot I was in manual, and never had it up shift. But I wasn't in 6th and I'm not pushing 500 ft/lbs on an OEM transmission. The OP even found another write up discussing what he's encountered.

The Sixth Gear Problem
There are multiple clutch packs in the Supra Transmission. Each used for different gears. The clutch pack used for 6th gear is known to be the weakest clutch. This is likely a big portion of why the transmission is only rated for 368FTLB of torque. This gear is known to slip on shift at about 500FTLB of torque. And if you even floor it on an ethanol tune in sixth gear at 3500RPM sometimes the RPM will jump up like a manual transmission. Due to this sometimes the transmission will detect slip and protect its self. It will shift to the next gear and limit the cars power.

Not a tough crowd. Just collective data showing that it's not normal, that way he can look into other options other than it being some type of warranty type/Toyota issue.

My 2020 repeatedly upshifted to 5th gear, and popped the shifter out of the manual position coming out of the Bus Stop at Watkins Glen. This usually happened at 5000 or so RPMs. I have no idea why it was happening and it wasn't consistent.

Just saying.

Precisely. Thank you.
