When I left work one day, I started up the car and instead of the expected cold start behavior, it behaved as if it was warm by doing the quick rev up to ~2500 RPM and going immediately down to ~700 RPM. The car had been sitting for 8 hours. Ambient temp was about 70 F.

Never had this happen before, curious if anyone else had seen it. FWIW, I'm running on E50 so it usually takes a second to start the engine.

Not to revive an old thread, but mines did this today, and it sat for more than 12 hours. I know revving that high with cold oil can’t be good.
