What did you do to your Supra today?

+1. I use constant-torque worm drive clamps on all my turbo cars, despite being told I need t-bolt clamps everywhere. I haven't had a problem since making the switch.



Such a coincidence. I just had this conversation with my friend yesterday after cleaning my wheels. I had her drive around the block a few times to use the brakes. She asked why. I'll show her your post haha.

I've never had this happen like this is the thing though. Like I said originally, usually when I take the parking brake off I give the car just a smidge of gas and you hear the brakes loosen and away she goes. This time I almost thought someone had trolled me by putting my wheel blocks under the tires or something. Lesson learned. I will drive the car afterwards from now on lol because I'm not dealing with that again. The entire ass end of the car was going sideways in my garage and I was having to counter steer to correct it back straight in the case that the brakes did break free. Scary moments.

So I washed my car saturday before last as I was planning to drive to an event but the event got canceled so I parked the car in the garage shortly after drying it. The car sat for exactly seven days in my garage and during those seven days I didn't drive it, it's not a daily. Anyways, I went to get into my car the next saturday and the car literally wouldn't budge forward. I made sure the parking brake was off and that the car was in drive, it was and it was. I eventually realized my front brakes were seized up due to rust having formed from washing the car and having not driven it for a full week, odd that it was this severe, but ok. I had to give the car so much gas that the car was actually doing a small burnout in my garage and ended up pushing the front wheels across the garage floor for several feet before the brakes finally broke free.

I've had the brakes on the Supra get slight stuck before after a wash and being parked for a few days but never to this degree. Has anyone else experienced anything close to what I'm describing? You can see the markings on the garage floor in the picture I posted.

I’m sure my neighbors think I’m crazy going back and forth a bunch of times in the driveway after washing before putting it away.

Haven't been active on the forums in a while. Went back to a more simple scheme, took off the black wrap on the door garnish and the carbon door handles. The simple look really started to grow on to me. Lol

That has to be insane! My turbo was out recently, got it fixed (different thread). But Wow what a difference. Then add the JB4 Jesse custom map… I couldn’t imagine having more power than that. I’m back on the stock wheels/tires. Those suckers get loose all over the place ? I love it!

I'm waiting on my ecu to get back from femto with my MHD stage 2 tune, that should be fun for awhile!!!

Have you raised the weights issue with Apex? Some of mine also disappeared and I thought I was the only one.

I have a message into them about the center cap melting but I will also bring up the weights once they reply.

Pining for the fjords eh? I live in the south-eastern parts of Norway, where everything is flat, flat and flat. But 6-7 hours away you can find the famous Atlantic Road and Trollstigen (The troll ladder).
I hope to take a ride there during this summer season.

I’ll be in Oslo and out to Trolltunga here this summer.

Edit - forgot to mention I melted my weights and center caps off.... no brake fade though.

Aluminum high heat HVAC tape is your best friend for wheel weights.

I never run center caps on track wheels for that exact reason. I have seen some other people safety tap and wire some, but that’s sketch.

The day that I washed the car the car had not been driven all day. Then it sat for exactly 7 days. The day that my brakes were locked up, the car was in drive and the parking brake was not on. They were just that stuck, but of course it was only the fronts. They eventually broke free but it required me to remove traction control so that I could effectively actually put down some power to the rear wheels because they were legit spinning and doing a burnout in my garage, and with traction control on it was cutting power and I couldn't give it enough gas to break the brakes free. It was wild as hell and I learned a lesson. I will drive the car after washing for now on.
