What should I expect to pay labor wise for a set of springs installed?

The Dinan website, on their GR Supra springs page, lists 7+ hours for installation time. I called the owner of an independent BMW shop, and his estimated cost to be $800 - $1100. That may include a full alignment.
absolutely insane lol. they're ridiculous for that

I'm not defending whatever shop they got a quote from, however, most places will go off book time and not straight time for swapping stuff out. For some reason book time calls 4.8 hours for the front springs and 2 hours for the rear. Dealer I work at if someone came in and asked for a labor quote would be $1161 and they charge $129.95 for alignment.

I'm not saying it's right as I know you can change them out in probably a couple hours, just stating why he was quoted what he was quoted

Agreed. I believe that the particular shop owner I spoke with would reduce the cost after he finished the job, based upon the actual time spent.

I have done suspension work with a friend, many years ago, but having access to a lift would've made the work so much easier. There is an alignment shop in town that has done suspension work for me. Their rates are always very good.

They quoted me about $200 per corner. Those are shop rates for reputable shops. I wound up doing the rears on my own and got help from a buddy for the fronts. I literally watched a youtube tutorial a few times. It's not too bad. Took me about 5 hours total, but I was in no rush and made sure I was thorough. Alignment is necessary because these cars are poorly aligned from the factory already.

Thanks for the responses. I had 2 shops wanting to charge $1200 which I thought was insane.
Not sure where you'd be getting that price lol. Should take about 2-3 hours, 4 hours MAX (probably not). Estimated shop rate of $200/hr would be about $400-600 total. Keep in mind that doesn't include alignment.

I paid $480 with alignment at RodSpeed in Miami, FL. Everything came out great, install was HKS spring and they already knew the perfect height.

Anyone know a shop I can go to in ATL? I got quoted 1k (alignment might be included) by a more expensive shop.

This post is timely, I'm planning to swap struts on all 4 corners of my X3 this summer. Just for fun I asked the local import specialist how much it would cost for them to do it, in case I felt lazy. $2,244 in labor alone! No parts or alignment in there.

Obviously I'm not going to do it, I'll DIY, like I have a few times before. But the point is - if they think they can get away with it, they will!

Seeing the rates some people are receiving here is eye opening, there are at least a few shops around that aren't trying to royally screw everyone.

2015, F25. I see you're in the "Midwest". If you're in the Twin Cities and can do it for pretty cheap, I might get lazy... I was going to gather all the parts and preassemble them over a few nights sometime this spring, then install the fronts and rears on separate occasions since I don't typically (ever) have the time to spend in the garage to do it all at once. If you're in the area we can PM each other and keep topic.
