My coolant is at a minimum and I don’t know what coolant should I use, some say g11 and some say ht-12

Check your owner's manual. Page 338 states that the coolant type is Antifreeze and Corrosion Inhibitor Frostox HT-12.

Brand is your personal preference. Spend more for genuine BMW and have peace of mind. Or spend less for third party and you'll probably still be fine.

I vote for a top-off with either plain distilled water, or an additive like Redline Water Wetter or Hy-Per Lube Super Coolant.

Hi guys,
I have a low coolant, went to my Toyota dealer and they said they only use 1 type for all Toyota which is this one.
The manual says the HT-12 which is the green BMW coolant. Is there a difference between the red coolant that Toyota dealers are suggesting and the green coolant the manual suggests? Thanks

I went to BMW and the only coolant they use for all their BMWs are LC-87 which is not HT-12.
What do you guys recommend?

Im shocked at what one can learn from a book written for the car lol. It even comes with the car.

The same book that recommends 0w-20?

I’m usually in agreement with your comment in regards to features/functions, but I value discussion around fluids/consumables as use cases vary.

If it’s not too expensive I’ll buy some HT-12 on amazon thx to this post. Last thing I want is another excuse for my local Toyota dealer to claim my car has been tainted by the aftermarket demons.
And if I get in a pinch, I’ll definitely add water like @zrk said 👍🏼

Use BMW coolant
Add some redline water wetter to the expansion tank of both the radiator and heat exchanger for the intercooler
Will help a bit in the summer time

I would do it in a heartbeat 💓 but I’m “that guy”…. I know it’s a BMW B58 engine, you bought it at a BMW dealer, told them you own a Z4/Supra. But yes you could open up your manual and look for the exact specs and double check your dealer.

The biggest thing I look for is “do I have to add water“ to make it 50/50. Some come already premixed and others don’t. That would be my biggest concern. So peel that sticker off for steps 1-3. Step 4 does say it’s a 50/50 mixture. But I’d still look at steps 1-3 :)
