My only beef with the fake vents is we were led to believe that they'd be functional with some minor work... It's been 2 years can't recall the interview but I believe I'm not imagining things that it came out if Tada's mouth.. Yet 0 people actually have done anything... Let me know if I missed it, I'm not on FB that much...
Otherwise never cared that they were fake.
I do hate the fake exhaust tips when I spot them, but it's a necessity especially on diesel cars. I want them on eV's as well lol.
Like a week or 2 after I bought the car back in Aug'19 got bunch of comments "you know it's not a real Supra, right?" like I didn't know it wasn't 1998 anymore.
But people on Woodward were surprised, couldn't tell what it was. Got thumbs up, but among V8 V10 rumbles and modified flame throwing classics, it only captures the attention of the lesser drunken ones.
After reviews came out, nothing but "thumbs up and love the car dude"
And slap a BMW logo for all I care. We're car enthusiasts. Not that BMW exterior designs are bad, but it's Japanese styling on Germany guts. We've found that it's a great combo.

Only ever got the "nice BMW" from a college kid walking down the street. I was tempted to quote the snarky Ferrari dude from the first FNF movie but decided against it.
It really disappoints me that the hate often comes from people who probably won't ever experience one. I've gotten thumbs ups and people ready to chat about the Supra who're driving Ferraris, 911s, etc.

The compliments are endless. Almost everyday. I end up having to be a Toyota ambassador because I don’t want to be rude in the face of genuine enthusiasm. Many a 5 minute chat at the gas station or supermarket (dare I call it the Supramarket?).
One guy in a Miata gave me the “Is that a Supraaaa?” to which I replied “Is that a go cart?????” His friend laughed which was good enough (I like the Miata, by the way).

I have gone to a couple shows and my A91 gets a lot of attention and positive comments. I think the reputation and vids of Supra's gapping V8's has people respecting this car.

Supra is a very annoying car for some because it's at a price point that is attainable for even a lower middle class household, yet a tad bit of a reach because they realize later that they'll want to properly park the car in a garage and own a few other cars to make up for the no rear seats, cargo space, and perhaps MT.. which ends up stretching their wallets looking like Gumby.. (wait is that racist? Hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings)
A lot more convenient for them to pretend they don't care.. if they really don't care then they'll be like my neighbors who don't even mention my black sports car.

Every time this pops up, I think it's a Classifieds thread selling a front lip spoiler.
I drive the car a few hours per week on average. I commute to NYC from NJ every day on mass transit so the weekend is the only time I drive it. I don't drive it enough to witness a lot of comments. The few comments I've heard since getting the car 2 months ago have all been positive. Even if they were negative, it wouldn't really matter to me since I've heard it all before.
Prior to pulling the trigger on the Supra, I secured an 8/21 build-slot for '22 M4 Comp xDrive. I decided I wanted a fun car for the summer so I cancelled and got the Supra in June. I don't regret it. I'd imagine the negative comments would be worse for the M4 xDrive since it's automatic, AWD, and has a grille that looks like it belongs on an Island of Dr. Moreau character. That wouldn't have bothered me either.
The point is you make the conscious decision to get a car and you should enjoy it. Every car out there has negative comments. For instance, someone out there at this very moment is enjoying their Pontiac Aztec without a care in the world. Be like them.

I hope all the "lips" everyone is getting about their Supra is on line only. It is extremely rude and sort of "cruising for bruising" walking up to someone's nice car (pride and joy) and started making disparaging comments, however tame. I've not experienced that myself, even at the track. Although I have a reply ready for when someone says it's a BMW - "That's why I bought it"

I really hate going to the gas station because of how much attention the car draws. Might be cause I live in the ghetto and probably have the only Supra around but I can say no one has said anything bad about it. Most people dont even know what the car is.

It's okay.. I was fat as a kid and a girl came up to me while walking to school telling me straight out that I was fat.
I didn't care, I just told her she had a snot on her face which was a large pimple to ensure she was emotionally scarred for life. I'm actually a fit and trimmed guy today and munching on chips and cookies all the time. That's how you win life.
