I'll quote myself from last year: the current test mules are 2900lbs +/-

There's a reason that msrp is up there; you're basically getting a Cayman for way less money.
I really hope you are right on the weight, but past experience (see: S550 Mustang for example) suggests that initial weight predictions and leaks often turn out to be overly optimistic when the official specs are released.

It is possible they will weigh the car down with stupidity and that is not something I'm privy to either way at this point, but hopefully they will let Tada do what he intended.

Substantially less, or very few buyers will be found - who is going to go for a Toyota when a Porsche with the same performance and far more cachet can be had for the same price?
True. Welp, here's to hoping it's less than 50k. But I think that's wishful thinking at this point.

If the mass deviates far from your predictions Mr A70, that will be a bit of an issue IMHO...

250kW in 1400-1500kg is piss-poor

So we can expect the Supra to cost less than the Cayman?

"Way less money" 300hp Cayman starts at $55k and 365hp Cayman starts at $67k. I'm guessing 'way less' is $10k but hoping its $20k.

What are you guys thoughts on this, I always thought the N55 and N55 successor B58 were built with great quality guess I was wrong. I hope Toyota addresses some of these details before production of the Supra

That's the N series motor. Not to say the B58 is better, but BMW did design the B58 to be more robust than the N55, hence why they went closed deck, mechanical water pump, etc. That being said, it's still a BMW, and I've worked on enough BMWs in my life to know that the engineers love to cut corners.

Again, don't assume that Toyota is so incompetent that they would sacrifice the one claim to fame that they've held for decades just to save some bucks on engine development. They went through the FB extensively, and I'm fairly certain they'll do the same here.

FB?

I thought the same, I would imagine Toyota learned something from the co-development of the 86's. Also, to uphold their renown for excellent reliability.

Subaru FB, which was the base for the FA20 in the 86/BRZ platform.
