I just saw a video today about the new gen 3 B58 having more potential for JB4 and tuning in general. Basically getting closer to 506 whp and 540 wtq on map 6 e30 using 93. I’m curious to know the difference in power using 91.

Either way, would rather have newer gen engines for 2024-2025 model Supra’s over small cosmetic changes or facelift but wouldn’t mind both if done right.

Anyone know if this will effect the Femto unlocks if the gen 3 does come to the Supra? Probably not a big concern since those new jb4 numbers seem good enough for most drivers.

Nobody knows. I’d imagine 2025 is the last model year though. So it’s a tad unlikely. Both the b58 gen2 and gen3 are in production. You’re getting port injection and a bigger turbo supposedly with the gen 3. But in reality, both are readily available in the aftermarket for reasonable costs now. Though native PI sounds nice.

I wonder if they'll make the Gen3 with a 6port head.

If it increases output then that's likely going to be the GRMN in 2025 but who knows. I guess it might be worth looking to see what the Z4 rumor mill is spewing with regards to its engine updates. Everything I have read is that it is all going to be pretty low key but who knows.

I’m hoping it goes out to 2027 just so they get the most out of their deal with BMW.

Stupid question. Assuming the 2020 Supra is the gen 1 b58 and the 2021 thereafter is the gen 2, with more hp?

As nice as it would be I don't think gen 3 B58 will make it to supra. Toyota just seems to be doing minor tweaks year to year with a "special edition" limited gimmick car to up charge folks. Maybe next gen we will get an updated b58 or the s58 if we are lucky but that's a stretch

Supras have all gen 2 b58 in them. Gen1 is in older bmws around 2017. I can't remember the years exactly, but they have a less flowing hpfp and different fuel injectors.

The 2 port and 6 port are just different model numbers. Kern 416 on you tube goes over it he is also on this forum.

The problem for me with the idea of the s58 is where is all the exhaust going? They have two OPFs i think im EU as well as the two cats? I dont see how it fits personally unless they change the exhaust manifold design

Actually i just checked. Its two cats into 1 big opf.

As it happens this has given me an idea.....
Wondering if i can get a M3 OPF welded into a supra exhaust as i persume they are good for 500+hp....

The S58 making it to the Supra is a rumor and simply a dream. Do you know how much better and faster the Supra would be than the M2 or even the new M2 CS coming out soon? No way BMW does that to themselves and ruins the M2s thunder.

Agree, especially since they have allowed the new M2 to go to the all you can eat buffet and slap on another 300+ lbs. That thing is a whale in relation to the footprint of the vehicle....hence why it got the big boy motor now....sort of too bad to be honest. Still highly capable but you'll definitely feel the added weight over previous generations. Probably going to feel more like a mustang/camaro as far as the weight transfer and carry to be honest.

makes sense but if Toyota manages to negotiate the right terms, we could see an S58-powered Supra, which, though a lofty dream right now, would be truly spectacular if it came to fruition.
