The Supra is one of the few cars available that features wireless CarPlay. What are your thoughts and impressions of this feature?

Note I am an avid CarPlay user so please do not review the software itself, instead focus on the wireless implementation of it.

Few? Pretty much every BMW in the last couple years has it as an option. It works great. Phone and car do a handshake with BlueTooth and then WiFi takes over. Great sound quality.

I have had it about 8 months in a 2019 JCW and love it. When I get in my RS3 and GT3 it's now its positively archaic. Before I was running the Beta of the new iOS and I had some weird delays in music playback. However since getting my new iPhone everything works great.

I will say one thing, when you switch from CP to any other music source the volume difference is huge, CP is severely depressed. Sound quality is "ok" Unless you are using FLAC files on the hard drive everything is so compressed nowadays. HD Radio seems to be the best source for audio quality.

I wish they didn't reserve one of the tiles for a pre-determined BMW app like Nav or compass, music art etc. I prefer my Porsche and Audi allowing the full screen to be CP. On the flip the Audi does not have a touch screen.

I haven't compared the sound quality yet, but as far as I remember, yes anything coming from the phone is lower quality so far. I have to try the usb sometime.

But, what I've experienced multiple times is, if I start the car without my iPhone 5s around and then bring it, CarPlay won't connect.
Same story if I want to switch from Android BT to iPhone CarPlay.. other similar connectivity stuff. perhaps not a common problem.... no issues once it connects...

Same as others....

1) convenient
2). Very quiet compared to all other sources
3). Wish I could use google maps on the entire screen

I like it but as mentioned sometimes there is a connectivity issue but rarely.

Funny you should mention this, not on the Supra but with my new iPhone 11 Pro I am having strange CP dropouts during phone calls. So far so good with the Supra

CarPlay is not available on Australian Supra.

I found this out the hard way since the Australia Toyota website is still sparse on any details about the Supra. No full specifications on their website.

I feel cheated.

The fuck? Seriously? Did you complain bitterly to Toyota yet?
