Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share my experience with XHP stage 3. Currently hardware mods wise I run an HKS intake, exhaust and AA catted dp. I ran XHP stage 3 version 1.2 for a long time and never had issues. It’s been pretty amazing alongside the MHD ots tunes. However, after putting my car back to stock software wise for reasons, I decided to pick XHP stage 3 version 1.5 and it introduced these brief pauses between shifts that felt like the car was in free fall. I ran it for awhile to make sure it was happening every time but thought it might be dangerous for the car to change gear during heavy cornering. So I went back to version 1.2 and all is well.

Let me know if I’m missing anything or if you had a similar experience.

I was always scared for the stage 3 from what everyone says online, so I stuck with stage 2 and changed some parameters to make it a bit more sexy at shifts but not where i'm a racing driver

What’s wrong with stage 3. Isn’t it just quicker and more harsh shifts in sport?

Yes. But that hasn't stopped this community from inventing utter bullshit about Stage 3.

Nobody should be shifting under heavy cornering. Stage 3 is fine. I've been using it for 3 track seasons, 50+ track days, 600whp+.
But have you used it in stop and go traffic going 3 mph on the highway while people slow down to see a leaf fall in the side of the road?
If your transmission won't break.... Your patience will sir.

What were we talking about?

been running it for just under a year and with gear 2 start off it’s fine for me. In stop start traffic I have the feature that it decides to pull off in 1st or 2nd and it’s fine for me.

Other daily is a w205 auto. Both are fine

is stage 3 bad for the transmission?

Stage 3 is functionally similar to Stage 2, except it makes the shift points more aggressive. This is not a wear concern, but some people find Stage 3 too aggressive/uncomfortable.

Sound. Then I’ll carry on using stage 3 then.
I did find that it has the ability to break traction between particular gears. But that was when I was being silly and keeping in sport with my foot all the way down as we went into winter last year. Talent issue very much kicking in there I think. Did make me wanna switch back to stage 2 but I couldn’t be bothered and just took it out of sport mode and be driving less like an idiot.

Been on Stage 3 for 6+ months on whatever was the latest map version at the time and it's been flawless. I don't really find it aggressive at all unless I'm full throttle, though the 3rd to 2nd downshifts are a little rough if I'm not very low RPM.
