Just saying...but I don't think you have a choice....LOL. :D
Nah I meant Iā€™m not getting mine tuned if a bench flash is the only way to unlock the ECU.

sooo, i supposed you will never be tuned then. because current ecus will require one bench flash to enable OBD2 flashing capabilities. this is now the norm, not just on this platform, but many others.

I'm SO glad I bought a 2020. I traded my 2016 GT350 in on my Supra based on the idea that I would be able to tune it to be faster, which the stock Supra is not.

yes to my understanding they all need to be unlocked. if you have a local tuner they can usually do it or you can send it off to some of the tuners on the forum and they will unlock it for you.

My 2020 got a newer ECM and now its locked :( apparently its currently unlockable. You think the tuners will be able to crack it soon?

thats sucks man. this is on a 2020 with a newer ECU? bizzare
Yes i have a 2020. Been having cold start idle problems. Started a thread about it. Engine wont rev. Have several videos of it doing it. Toyota replaced the ECM and still doing it. Sucks because my previous ECM was unlockable and this one is not.

Lesson #1 to be learned: Avoid dealer like the plague. Lesson #2: if you can live with it, do.

No. Not all 2020s are locked. My ECU was not. If you have a 2021 then best of luck, itā€™s either unlockable for a price or youā€™re temporarily s.o.l.

I would never base a buy on wishful thinking. I bought my 2020 primarily on the basis of tuning it. Had I thought it was not tunable I would have kept my GT350.
