At what mileage do you change the Transmission and Rear Differential fluid? Would you use the BMW fluids or something better like Redline, etc?
Any idea how much this maintenance costs and is Toyota capable of carrying out this maintenance?

According to the maintenance manual, never. Or at least not within the first 120,000 miles of driving the car. The only reference made to the trans and diff fluids is if they are inspected and found to be leaking, then service is required.

Wow. Now I'm confused.

"For the ZF 8 speed automatic transmissions FCP Euro recommends an initial drain and fill service after 35,000 miles and 50,000 miles with services every 50,000 miles after."

120K sounds a bit extreme, while 35K seems a bit premature. :dunno:

Depends how you drive it. I've changed mine out once already.

I took the opportunity to switch out fluid type when installing a new trans cooler. Only 8k miles so didn't find it necessary to drop the pan and no need to disconnect lines.. just drain and refill.
Not difficult at all just messy and took some time.

Did you measure how much came out and refill with the same amount? Or just let as much drain out as you could and refilled until it started coming out filler plug?

Drainplug first (didn't measure).. after about 15min I capped it and added new through the refill plug. Once it started oozing out, I started the car, ran it through the gears, and while running - in park, went back under and topped it off. In total it took close to 7 quarts.

I have two cars with the ZF 8HP; I spoke with a ZF tech and he recommended changing the ATF at 60k miles. I'd definitely change the diff oil at the same time.
