Looking to change to 5w-30 after 1200 mile break in period. Any issues with the dealer possibly voiding warranty, etc? I agree with the thin oil should not be in in a high performance turbocharged engine.

Always possible I'm sure. Some folks get warranty work with full tunes and aftermarket parts while others catch hell for having an air intake. That said, my plan is to nip this oil stuff in the bud before it ever becomes an issue. My buds in EU are driving 21s without oil issues and none of them are rocking 20 weight. Europe rocks bmw ll04 oil and I'm simply doing the same.

2021 Supra Owner Here... Is My Engine Toast?

At 2644 miles of hard driving i had to add a quart of oil because the light came on.

Now i am at 3800, and i decided to use the oil checker and it is close to minimum again.
Is My Engine Toast? Do i bring it to the dealer now? Should i take my exhaust and intake off first?

I understand there is a thread, I just want more direct answers
yes, take it in. What other option is there? If you can take off the parts itā€™ll be 2 less things they can blame on you even though theyā€™d have to prove that they were the cause of the excessive oil consumption. With all the other documented 21ā€™s with the same issue, it would be a tough argument for them

Other people are just switching to 5W-30 and itā€™s solving the issue. Personally Iā€™m not a fan of replacing the whole engine which devalue the car extremely.

the problem is that the issue possibly devalues the entire model year with or without a replacement engine.

5w-30 may be a fix, but doesnā€™t mean that there isnā€™t a problem.

If thatā€™s the case Toyota should pay us lost value because of something thatā€™s their fault... probably never gonna happen

Take it in and get a report going. I wouldn't take the exhaust or an intake off, personally.

I would for sure remove your intake. If you can do both that would be even better.

Can you describe the engine break in method used? Also did you get a chance to vote in the poll about it?
